Jean “Jeanne” Eischens, of Jordan, passed away on January 24, 2015 at the age of 68. A Gathering of Family and Friends is Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 3:30 – 7:00 PM with prayers and reflections at 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, Jordan. Brother Ambrose Eischens will preside. Urn bearers for Jeanne are her godchildren, Jeremy Beuch, Brent Riesgraf and Kelsey Kratz.

It was a beautiful spring day on May 17, 1946 when Raymond and Mildred (Sullivan) Lucas celebrated the birth of their daughter, Jean Marie. She was the oldest of five children and loved growing up in Jordan with her siblings, Peggy, Kenny, Karen and Susie. As a girl Jeanne helped out at her parents’ hardware store. Jeanne attended Jordan High School and graduated in 1964.

After school, Jeanne became a beautician and worked at a hair salon in Richfield for a few years. Soon Jeanne met the love of her life, Wally Eischens. They began dating, and their love grew. Six months later Jeanne and Wally exchanged wedding vows at St. John’s Catholic Church on December 6, 1969. A few years later they were blessed with a beautiful daughter, Sara. She was Jeanne’s pride and joy.

Jeanne eventually got a job doing hair at Valley View in Jordan, and she loved working with the residents there. After that, Jeanne became everyone’s favorite bus driver. She drove bus in Jordan and Shakopee for 40 years. Jeanne loved all of the kids on her routes, and they all loved her back.

In her spare time, Jeanne enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. She was also very big into arts and crafts. She loved building bird houses with her brother Kenny and making garden decorations with Wally. Jeanne and Wally spent their summers at the Cannon Falls Campground where they made many wonderful friends. She loved going to garage sales with her daughter and friends, young and old. Jeanne was very active in Girl Scouts and was a troop leader for many years. Jeanne spent a lot of time volunteering at the Jordan Food Shelf. She was also involved in the Council of Catholic Women through St. John’s.

Jeanne was a loving woman with a kind heart. She was always taking care of others and showing compassion to those in need. During the early morning hours of Saturday, January 24, 2015 Jeanne passed away unexpectedly in her home. She will be deeply missed and remembered always by her husband, Wally Eischens; daughter, Sara (Special Friend, Jeff Kocks) Eischens; siblings, Peggy (Jerry) Beuch, Kenny (Vicki) Lucas, Karen (Steve) Riesgraf, Susie (Steve) Keeley; brothers-in-law, Harold (Katherine) Eischens, Ambrose Eischens; sister-in-law, Ann Eischens; 9 nieces and nephews; 7 great-nieces and nephews; other loving relatives and many friends. Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred Lucas.

The Eischens family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation.

We are very deeply saddened by Jeannie’s passing. May God wrap his loving and comforting arms around family and friends suffering her loss. What a wonderful woman. There was one old message on my machine, I pressed it to listen and it was Jeannie’s. She had called a week ago to talk about one of my students on her bus. She was such a caring kind soul. I cried when I heard her voice. I do not know if I will ever be able to delete that message. She will be missed by so many.

Condolence from Susie Paulson on January 26th, 2015 12:18 pm

Wally and Sara and the Lucas Family,
Still somewhat in shock that Jeanne is gone…I loved her so much! She was genuinely one in a million.

I will always remember her love for Tyler, especially when he was going through tough times in Wichita. She was always sincerely interested in how he was doing, which was so Jeanne♡

One of my favorite memories was the weekend Tyler surprised her when she was working the Saturday night Bingo gig at the campground. She was busy helping someone with cards, and Tyler said excuse me Miss, I need help. Jeanne screamed once she realized it was Tyler… of course she was flustered the entire night! She hadn’t seen him for a year. That was our Jeanne!

Let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do for your family, not only now…but in the future.

Love your family so much! Hugs and prayers♡♡♡

When the bus was late this morning to pick my son, I asked him, “are you sure you haven’t missed her?” My son said “no.” Then in about 3 minutes the bus showed up, but it wasn’t her. A new driver? I asked myself. I had wanted to follow the bus to the school. Jeannie had driven my son to and back from school for 3 years and we loved her so much. My son and I were discussing about a nice present for her just last week because it was his last year at the school. Jeannie was awesome, extremely awesome. I screamed when my son broke the news to me this afternoon. I still can’t believe it, very hard to believe it. We’re heartbroken and very sorry for your loss. Its only God who can fill this vacuum Jeannie has created for us. Please have our deepest sympathy from the bottom of our hearts. “And God shall wipe away our tears from our eyes.” Jeannie, may your soul find perfect rest in the Lord. Rest In Peace! Rest In Peace!!

Condolence from Mandy Adamek on January 29th, 2015 11:20 am

Wally & Sara & Family,

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear last night of the passing of my favorite long time bus driver Jeannie. It was usually Jeannie, Kenny or Wally that drove me from kindergarten age til my friends and I turned 16 years old and started driving ourselves to school.

When our oldest Logan started kindergarden, guess who was Logan’s bus driver??? Jeannie! Logan had a rough start riding the school bus but he always did. Logan’s first few weeks of kindergarten Jeannie called me several times in the evenings to tell me Logan had some tears when he got on the bus, she would slip him a kleenex and told him to quickly dry his eyes before anyone else noticed. If it wasn’t for her to be there to comfort my 5 year old no one would have been. I was fortunate enough to run into Jeannie & Wally a few months ago in Jordan at the grocery store, I thanked her for what she did for Logan 13 years ago and that it was still something that meant a lot to me. What a great feeling your family must have to know that she touched so many lives over the years. I am so sorry for your loss, please know you will be in my prayers and thought of often during this most difficult time. I will never forget her, her voice or her laugh.
Mandy
