Jamie Schultz passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 12, 2018, at the age of 42. He was a resident of Park Rapids, MN and formerly of Prior Lake, MN.
A Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with a time of gathering two hours prior, at Lydia Zion United Methodist Church in Jordan, MN. Pastor Larry Kasten will preside. Jamie will be laid to rest at Concord Hill Cemetery. Unbearers will be godparents, Ivan Schultz ad Lori Marquardt.
The adventures of Jamie all began November 30, 1975, in Shakopee, MN. He was the first of two sons born to parents Stanley and Debra (Borchardt) Schultz. Jamie was born with a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. The doctors told his parents, he will never walk, will never ride a bike nor drive a car. If Jamie would graduate, he would be in a wheelchair and will not live past the age of 21. Well, God knew better, and the doctors did not know Jamie’s will power. He grew up in the Prior Lake community living a fairly normal childhood. Jamie loved being outdoors, riding his bike and going on many adventures with neighborhood friends, Dan and Chris. He had a very special bond with his younger brother, Derek. The two brothers loved being together and had each other’s back. Despite all odds from the doctors, Jamie attained his driver’s license and walked with his fellow classmates in graduating in 1994, from Prior Lake High School.
Jamie worked for many years at Valley Coating in management. He loved his job working with his colleagues and customers. Unfortunately, Jamie’s disease progressed, and he found himself needing more day to day assistance, so he moved to his parents’ home in Park Rapids, MN in 2004.
Jamie had many passions in life. From a young boy, he loved to hold a fishing pole in his hands, in hopes of catching that perfect fish. Jamie relished quality time spent on the lake with family and friends. He loved vacationing with his family, especially to Glacier National Park. Over time, Jamie’s passions turned to NASCAR Racing, watching wrestling and exploring the web on the computer. He also had this amazing wealth of movie knowledge.
Determined, strong willed and independent, Jamie made the best of life. In spite of life’s trials and tribulations, he pressed on and found new ways to keep living life. Jamie’s greatest qualities were his generosity, caring and big heart. He made such an impact on people and touched so many lives along the way.
Forever loved, Jamie will always remain in the hearts of his parents, Stan and Deb Schultz; brother, Derek (Shauna) Schultz; nephews, Casey Schultz, Carter Schultz; grandmother, Verna Borchardt other loving relatives and friends.
Jamie was welcomed home in heaven by his grandparents, Leslie and Della Schultz and grandfather, Donald Borchardt.

It was an absolute honor to call Jamie Schultz my best friend for over the last thirty years. I’ll will always remember him as a fun loving, caring, and loyal man. He always cherished the simple things in life. ….all the things we take for granted every day. He never let anything stop him. In many ways I strived to be more like him and thought of him more like a brother than a friend. Through good times and bad you always felt better after being in his presence even for short periods of time. I’m going to miss you so much Jamie. Knowing you’re not just a phone call away anymore will be hard. I know you’re in a better place and thank you for fighting as long as you did. Me and your entire family appreciate what you did in our life. The only thing I wish was diffrent is we had more time. Something we all take for granted every day. My heart goes out to the Schultz family, and I’ll keep you all in my heart and prayers.
To the Schultz family and friends, the Class of 1994 is so sad to hear about losing such an amazing classmate. Although we will be celebrating our 25th class reunion next year, it seems like just yesterday that we would walk the halls at PLHS and see Jamie’s smiling face. After hearing that he lost his battle with MD, classmates have been posting on our Facebook page about how wonderful Jamie was.

The comments above are just a few noted, but all with a consistent message of kindness. We are all so very sorry for your lose, and ours too. We are thinking of you during this difficult time, but please take comfort in knowing you had such an amazing son, brother, and friend to everyone he met.
The PLHS Class of 1994 will miss you Jamie.
When we think of Jamie we have sweet memories . After moving , I will never forget how happy our son was when he found out that his friend Jamie lived across the street. Those two were always together even after graduation. I thank God that He brought Jamie and his family into our lives. Jamie had such a strong spirit and never let anything slow him down. Deb, Stan and Derrick our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Sorry, for your loss. Jamie was a great friend, I enjoyed helping him the past year and a half. I will always remember him as my rubber ducky friend. Jamie touched many hearts at Ecumen.
Our hearts are broken for Jamie’s family. I keep remembering the three boys on their various adventures and watching them each of them grow up into wonderful men. Jamie always had a smile and a friendly word for everyone. I think everyone whoever met Jamie loved and admired him. My deepest sympathy to his family.
My deepest condolences to Derek, Shauna, Deb, Stan and the rest of the family. One of my best friends growing up was Jamie’s younger brother, Derek. I only lived a block away from the Schultz’s and spent a lot of time there for many years. I was always treated pretty much like family from Deb and Stan over those years. I remember, Jamie always being so nice to all of us, even though we were his younger brother’s friends. I got to know Jamie pretty well over those years & I always enjoyed his positive outlook and all his great stories he would tell us of him when he was our age. He was a great man and will truly be missed. He will always be with us all, watching over.

In a strange bout of insomnia, I found this last night while thinking about high school for some reason. I am so sorry for your loss, and hope that Jamie is at peace. Jamie was a very special friend to me, and someone I have thought of fondly and will not forget. He taught me a lot about going forward despite challenges and road blocks in life. I am thinking of you and praying for you, Stan, Deb, and Derek.

Thinking of Jamie today. Jamie and I were elementary- PLHS high school classmates. Due to our last names – Schultz and Svoboda – we sat next to each other often. We talked a lot, and I considered him a great friend through out high school. I will always think very highly of Jamie. He was a wonderful classmate and an outstanding, kind, thoughtful person. Yes
