Jackson Anderson, of Prior Lake, passed away from complications of heart failure surrounded by incredible love and in the loving arms of his mother and brother on January 19, 2019 at the age of 16.

A gathering of family & friends will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM with Prayers & Reflections at 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant St. SE) in Prior Lake. Christian Mass is Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside. A reception will follow at The Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake.

On July 22, 2002, Dan & Maureen Anderson welcomed their son, Jackson David Anderson, into the world. Even before he was born, Jackson was a fighter. When Maureen was pregnant, they found out Jackson had a congenital heart defect, but that didn’t stop him from coming into the world with force. His parents and big brother were completely in love with him right away. He had beautiful blue eyes and the softest blond hair. From the start, Jackson looked just like his mom and was stubborn like his dad.

At just 10 days old, Jackson had his first open heart surgery. By the time he was 3 years old he had three more. This never got Jackson down. He was always a happy boy. His family quickly learned that Jackson was an old soul and had a mature wit. Jackson could always keep his dad laughing, especially at bedtime, which helped him stay up longer.

Growing up, Jackson loved tagging along with his brother, Sam. The two of them loved playing board games together, but they would make up their own rules to the games just to keep things interesting. The Andersons were really close with the Kot family. Dan & Maureen and Greg & Mary Jane loved getting their families together. Because of this, Sam & Jackson grew up with Alex & Megan. They spent countless hours together seeing movies, enjoying the lake and playing American Idol. “The Foursome” shared a lot of special times together.

Jackson loved traveling with his family. The Andersons took many trips abroad and went on several cruises together. But Jackson’s favorite destination was Duluth. He even had a tattoo of the Duluth Lift Bridge on his arm. Jackson treasured all the family trips to the North Shore. He loved being with his family, and he really invested in his relationships with aunts, uncles and cousins. All the little kids in the family loved Jackson, because he always made time for them and would even let the little girls put pony tails in his hair.

In his free time, Jackson was very active. He enjoyed downhill skiing, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, playing video games, shopping with his mom, and watching his favorite show, Friends. He could quote every line from every episode. Over the years, he played baseball, did karate and was involved in Mock Trial. Jackson was so proud to work at Edelweiss Bakery and loved talking with customers.

Jackson truly was a fighter. He had such a strong determination, but his heart just wasn’t strong enough. Jackson captured the hearts of the staff members at Children’s Hospital and Clinics in Minneapolis.

Jackson will always be remembered for his sweet personality and great sense of humor. He will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. Jackson is deeply missed by his mom, Maureen Anderson; brother, Sam Anderson; many aunts & uncles, cousins, grandparents, very close friends and other loving family and friends. Jackson was greeted in Heaven by his dad, Dan Anderson. He gave his dad the most extraordinary birthday gift you could ever imagine.

Maureen, Sam and the rest of Jackson’s family and friends. It’s with deepest sympathy to let you know what a strong young man Jackson was. He became a hero to me for his strength and courage. Even though I never met Jackson I feel like I came to know him through all the posts goid, scary and sad posts on Caringbridge Maureen. He’ll be held in my memory for the remainder of my days on earth and know we’ll all meet him in Heaven.

Condolence from BO on January 22nd, 2019 7:10 am

I know there are no words that can ease the pain and sorrow of your loss. When someone we love falls asleep in death, the memories we have of them become our treasure. May those cherished memories and the promise held out to us in God’s word at John 5:28, 29 be of some comfort to you.

Condolence from Marcia Hagmayer on January 22nd, 2019 9:29 am

Maureen and Sam,
Jackson brought so much to this world and left such a powerful legacy. He taught us the value of fighting, he showed us how to enjoy life and he emulated love as demonstrated through both of you. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
The Hagmayer Family

Condolence from Harold and Renee Sonnek on January 22nd, 2019 9:42 am

All our love and prayers to you, Maureen and Sam,
It is quite obvious that Jackson was given by God to a loving and wonderful family. Thank you for sharing his story. What a wonderful gift he was. But it is not over. You can talk to him, pray with him, cry with him and know that you will be together with him in Eternity. Take time to grieve. That is so important. Take time for you and Sam. We join you with our prayers and very best wishes for healing and understanding. You have accomplished many miracles in your care giving of Jackson. Know that he is in a place where he can give that care for you in far bigger ways than you can know.

Our thoughts and prayers will be with you as you journey through these next days, months and years
God Bless you both !

Condolence from Dawn Bouldin on January 22nd, 2019 10:10 am

Sometimes we’re selfish wanting to keep our loved ones here on earth with us. When I think of Jackson in heaven, he’s free of the machines, equipment, tubes, pokes, and meds that he needed to have an earthly existence. May your tremendous sadness be lifted by remembering Jackson’s sense of humor, joy, strength, and just his essence. He made so many lives richer and fuller, and I know you are so incredibly prout of him.

Before my mom died, she asked God to let her have a role in taking care of the kiddos in heaven. She and Dan and all God’s angels are welcoming Jackson home.

Continued love and prayers!

Condolence from Vicky Benyo on January 22nd, 2019 10:20 am

You have a wonderful Angel looking over you now and forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Love,
The Benyo Family

Maureen,
My prayers goes out to you, families, and friends. Hello I am Acelind I am a junior. When I found out I was torn, he was such a good kid I had him in my English, Math, and Seminar class. I remember telling Jackson advice for school on the first day of high school freshmen year, I said “Do not procrastinate, turn in your homework on time, and study for test. You’ll do just fine.” He said “Thank you I’ll keep that in mind.” He made me smile when he would smile back at me. He was really good at Uno he kicked my butt. He was such a funny, kind hearted, and outgoing person. I am glad I got to know him. I am gonna miss him dearly so much. I’m so sorry for your lost, you’re strong you got this. Just remember he watching down from above smiling because he got to live a good life.
Take care,
Acelind Evenstad

Condolence from Joyce Karlsrud on January 23rd, 2019 8:17 am

Maureen and Sam……my heart is aching for you and your great loss. You both have so much to deal with right now, and it will take time to grieve and heal. But know that both Dan and Jackson will be watching over you and sending their love to give you the strength to get through these very sad times.
There are still quite a few of our staff members who have been with UHC Training & Development since back when Jackson was born, and we have followed his life’s journey through his early surgeries and through his childhood years. And I know I speak for all of us when I say we have felt so much love for that sweet young man with a smile that would light up the darkest night. Thank you for allowing us to travel that journey with your family.
Hang on to those precious memories of times with Jackson that you have enjoyed over the years. They will bring you warmth and happiness in the future, and memories are one thing that no one can take from you.
