Hsiang-Yi “Angela” Richter, age 37 of Shakopee, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, in her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30AM with a visitation starting at 10:00AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Friendship Church – Shakopee Campus, 12800 Marystown Road. Masks will be required. Interment Valley Cemetery, Shakopee.

Hsiang-Yi “Angela” Wang was born on October 23, 1984, to Y.T. Wang and Taichi Lee in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Angela grew up with her parents and younger brother, John, in Taiwan. As a child, she loved being active, going swimming and climbing, eating good food, and often visiting the zoo. After graduating from high school, Angela attended the National Taipei University of Business, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. In 2011, she moved to the United States, working as a source analyst for Advanced Auto Parts before transferring to Koch Industries in a similar role. Angela was blessed to meet Jason Richter at their place of employment, and they were united in marriage on July 6, 2011, in Bloomington, MN. Angela took in Jason’s daughters, Selina and Melanie, as her own without hesitation. Family was incredibly important to her. Together, they all enjoyed traveling, visiting almost every state in the U.S. and going to many different countries, including visits home to Taiwan. Angela was able to go to Thailand and Hong Kong with her mother and tour Europe with her brother, a trip that was always on her wish list. In her free time, she loved cooking, doing arts and crafts, and hiking. She had a great sense of fashion as well, always staying up to date with clothing styles and makeup. She also had a passion for nature and protecting the environment and was super caring for all people and animals; supporting children through World Vision and Feed My Starving Children.

Angela’s faith was also extremely important to her. She had a strong love for Christ and for her family. She was a member at Friendship Church for many years where she taught in the children ministry and participated in small groups. Angela was called to serve with her husband to spread God’s word in her home country of Taiwan, but was unable to due to her declining health; however, Angela maintained her hope and passion for Christ and obtained a Master’s Degree of Theology with her husband at the University of Northwestern, St. Paul in 2018. She went on to utilize her knowledge to witness and educate others about Christ.

Angela was charismatic, optimistic, creative, and energetic. Always caring and deeply cared for, she will be greatly missed by her husband, Jason; daughters, Selina and Melanie; grandfather, Lee Shan Shou (李善守); parents, Y.T. Wang (王有土) and Phyllis Lee (李黛琪); brother, John Wang (王瑋強); and many other loving family and friends.

Condolence from Lynette Hindal on December 28th, 2021 8:33 am

I had the honor of taking care of Angela when she came to Mayo Clinic for her care. I believe that God planned for us to meet as she touched my heart in many ways. I will always remember her fighting spirit, but I am comforted to know that she is no longer in pain.
Condolences to Angela’s family-
