Heidi Kearney, age 47, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at her home in Richfield, MN. The family will honor Heidi’s life with a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, May 30, at 12 (noon) pm, with visitation starting at 10 am, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN. Jean Breeggemann will lead the service. Heidi will be laid to rest at St. John’s Cemetery, Savage, MN.
Born June 10, 1967 to Robert and Evelyn (Olson) Hersom in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Heidi Lu was a 1985 graduate of Cedar Rapids Washington High School. She had been looking forward to a 30th class reunion in July. The wife of Michael Kearney, Heidi was a remarkable lover of animals, rescuing several dogs and cats from difficult circumstances with the care and support of her husband. With a 20-year-old cat and three Black Labradors aged 17, 16 and 10, Heidi earned high praise from the family veterinarian who marveled at the longevity of Heidi’s pets — “I don’t know what she’s doing, but she’s doing something right.’’
Left to mourn her loss is her husband, Mike; daughters, Meagan and Courtney; grandchildren, Angelo, Amelia, Anita; brothers, Terry (Linda) Hersom of Sioux City, IA, Tom Hersom of Cedar Rapids, IA: sister, Linda (Gary) Seger of Cedar Rapids, IA; niece, Katie (Blake) Middleton of Tulsa, OK; nephews, Robbie (Kristin) Hersom of Oklahoma City, OK; Jason (Stephanie) Hersom of Dakota Dunes, SD; Jim (Chrissy) Hersom of Omaha, NE; parents-in-law, Frank and Rosemary Kearney of Prior Lake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cathy Hersom of Oklahoma City, OK, John (Kathy) Kearney of Prior Lake, Steve Kearney of Seattle, WA, Mary (Gerry Ryan) Fritts of Panama City Beach, FL, Judy (Rick Redetzke) Kearney of Bloomington, and David (Lori Broen) Kearney of Hopkins.

The Kearney family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation.

I heart goes out to Heidi’s family. I have been friends with Heidi since 1st grade. Spend a lot of time at her house as a child. She was just a wonderful loving person. I will miss her terribly. The only thing that brings me peace is she is back in the loving arms of her mom.

Mike and family,
I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Heidi. I have many fun and happy memories of times back in high school and times we visited you in Minn. I have some great pictures from our last visit when in town for wedding at the Minnesota Horse and Hunt Club and we all meant up at the little bar many years ago. Please know there are many here in CR that are shocked, saddened and send our thought and prayers to you all.

Mike and family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Heidi was gracious, and kind. I know she enjoyed being a grandmother as she stated each time we saw each other, which was not often enough. I was reading about her love for animals, that is wonderful!
God bless you all!
