Gary Gullickson, age 78, of Prior Lake, MN passed away on March 11, 2019, in Prior Lake, Minnesota.

Born on November 1, 1940 in Fargo, ND, Gary was the son of Walter and Bertie (Harper) Gullickson. He was the youngest of two children. Gary attended Fargo High School, where he was elected class president in his junior year. Gary was recognized for his sportsmanship. He was a member of the Key Club, swim team, and participated in track. Gary lettered in football, where he contributed to State Championship in 1958. In the same year, Gary played on the Fargo Legion Baseball Team and contributed to a State Championship, in that sport as well. He went on to graduate from Moorhead State University in 1963, with a degree in Elementary Education. Gary was president of his class in 1961, 1962, & 1963. He received a baseball scholarship in his sophomore, junior and senior year, where Gary was co-captain.

Gary married Dorothy Austin on July 3, 1963. They shared a wonder life together for 38 years. Gary and Dorothy had two daughters, Kelly Dawn and Lane Michelle. Family was always important in his life and he was so proud of each of them. In his free time, Gary loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He too enjoyed nature’s animals and his loyal companions of his Golden Retrievers.

Gary will be remembered for bringing our family together and creating family values that he and Dorothy instilled in their daughters and Gary carried to his grandchildren in Dorothy’s absence.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Lane Gullickson; daughter and son-in law, Kelly & Chris Contreras; grandchildren, Casady (Romain) Cunat, Nicholas (Beka) Contreras, Zachary Contreras, Jordan Contreras, Kylerton Gary Gullickson; greatgrandchildren Willow and Zion Contreras; brother, Warren (Sheila) Gullickson; other relatives and friends.

There to welcome Gary home in heaven is his wife, Dorothy and parents.

Dearest Kelly, Lane & Family Members of Gary Gullickson:
We are saddened to hear the passing of your Gary. We connected with Dorothy & Gary In 1975 when he worked with Baxter & had earned a sales incentive trip to Hawaii. From that first introduction we knew Gary had a great love for
his Dorothy( his greatest fan) & Daughters Kelly & Lane!! His Sense Of Humor Was Second To None & Had His Friends In Tears Often With His QUICK WIT!! He gave us beautiful memories that we hold dear to our heart!!

What a GIFT he had living with his Kelly, Lane & Families after the passing of Dorothy….sense of family was most evident!! Bless You Kelly & Lane for sharing your lives in creating a HOME!!

We hope to attend Gary’s Celebration Of Life on Saturday…..our Deepest Sympathies From Marc & JoAnn Pream

Kelly, Lane, Chris and family,

Your Dad was such an inspiration to everyone he met. His sense of humor and love of life was evident when first meeting him. He had a heart of gold but his strongest love was his love of his beautiful family. I will always be in awe of you building an extended family upon moving to Minnesota. Love, prayers and hugs to each of you with the loss of your wonderful Dad.

I miss Gary, I only knew him a short time but until I met him I had no reasonable adult to talk with. Gary was a breath of air. We had great discussions about sports and other topics. Gary’s family was ever thing to him and I was fortunate to meet most of them.
The Lord be with you during these trying times.

Kelly/Lane. Your dad and I had great times together in LaCrosse and Minn as you know . We spent time on the river in the houseboat and duck hunted on many different occasions together. I will miss him but always remember the good times. I am thankful that I knew Gary. Tom and Doreen Campbell

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends. May you find some comfort in the promise found in Revelation 21: 3-4 and 1 Thessalonians 4:14. Knowing that there is an opportunity to be reunited with loved ones.
