Frank A. Hilgers, formerly of Jordan and Belle Plaine passed away November 2, 2022 after a long illness. A Time of Gathering will be held at Ballard Sunder Funeral and Cremation in Shakopee (833 Marschall Rd.) on Sunday, November 20 from 11:30-1:30pm. Following, the Funeral Service lead by Reverend Rosemary Rocha will begin at 1:30.
Francis Alfred Hilgers, Jr. was born in New Prague on December 15, 1941 to Frank Hilgers, Sr. and Ruth (Mertens) Hilgers.
A standout athlete at Jordan High School and Jordan Brewers, Frank’s passion was baseball and he had a long, productive career as catcher and infielder for the Jordan Brewers. Frank is remembered by many youth in the Jordan area as a former Boy Scout leader, Legion/Babe Ruth coach, Hunter’s Safety Instructor. Frank is a former member of the Lions Club of Jordan and Fish Lake Sportsman’s Club.
Frank’s appreciation of the outdoors was reflected in his passion for hunting, fishing, nature walks, his bird feeders and mushroom picking.
The family would like to thank the Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine and St Croix Hospice for their dedicated care, and to all Frank’s visitors in his final years.
Frank was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth (Simcox) Hilgers, sister Joan Schneider and brother Peter. He is survived by 4 children, Peter (Kimberly) Hilgers; Michael (Kim); Lisa Laughlin; Shawn (Andrea) Hilgers; and 1 sister, Mary Brown. Frank was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.

Frank was a great man. First met him during the bat boy days when Krant’s and Toby’s and Rollie’s played many softball games against one another. He smiled the entire game. We were honored to care for him during my time at Kingsway. What a great man. What a great family.
