Fern D. Kampstad, 95, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Friendship Manor in Shakopee, MN, surrounded by her loving family. A visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2018 at 10 A.M. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 S. Marschall Rd., Shakopee, MN. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 A.M. at Ballard-Sunder, Shakopee. Graveside services will be held after at Marystown Cemetery in Marystown, MN.
Fern was born May 16, 1923, in Warwick, ND, the daughter of the late Emil and Anna Victoria (Anderson) Hultgren. Fern was a graduate of Warwick High School. She moved out west on December 7, 1941, and began working at Boeing as a riveter during WWII.
In 1946, Fern married Francis Kampstad in Olympia, WA. In 1962, she and her family moved back to MN where they remained. Fern worked in food service at a hospital in Minneapolis for the remainder of her career. She spent her retirement living with family and enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Fern is survived by daughter, Joann Woods; son, Gary Kampstad; daughter, Peggy Irwin and her husband, Loren Irwin; daughter, Karolyn DeLuney and her husband, Thomas DeLuney. Fern is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Fern is greeted in Heaven by her parents, siblings, and her great-granddaughter, Emma.
