Erna Anna Fehlandt

Erna Anna Fehlandt was born on March 13, 1917 in Spring Lake Township, to parents Ernest and Anna (Zaudtke) Beuch. She was the 5th of 8 children growing up with 3 sisters Martha, Lillian and Alice, and 4 brothers Eric, Frederick, Herman and Julius. Erna’s childhood years were spent in Spring Lake Township on the farm helping with family chores, while attending country school in Lydia and Credit River.

Most of Erna’s career was spent as a homemaker. Erna married Allen Fehlandt on May 30, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Fish Lake. They worked together on their farm that they purchased from Allen’s parents outside of Jordan. They were blessed with 2 children, Richard and Judith. After selling their farm they moved to Shakopee. Allen passed away January 15, 2000. Erna then moved to the Schule Haus in Jordan living there 5
years before moving to Mankato to be close to Richard and Kathryn.

Erna enjoyed making quilts with Allen’s mother on her quilting frame. She was also known for her large garden and raising chickens. She and Allen were very active with Christian Fellowship and she served on the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jordan.

At the age of 96 and a resident of Oaklawn Health Care Center, Mankato, MN, Erna passed away peacefully in the presence of her family and entered God’s arms the evening of Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

Forever loved, Erna will be deeply missed by her daughter-in-law, Kathryn Fehlandt of North Mankato, MN; daughter, Judith (Burt) Johnson of Longmont, Co; grandchildren, Tracy (Kevin) Borgmann, Britt Johnson (Lara Ravitch), Brooke (Brian) Ash, Dana Fehlandt and Darla Fehlandt; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Herman (Virginia) Beuch of Jordan; sister, Alice (Frank) Busch of Morgan Hill, CA; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Erna is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Fehlandt; son, Richard Fehlandt; parents, Ernest and Anna (Zaudtke) Beuch; brothers, Eric Beuch, Frederick Beuch, Julius Beuch; sisters, Lillian Klotz, Martha Bussman

Pallbearers for Erna will be her 5 granddaughters: Dana Fehlandt, Darla Fehlandt, Tracy Borgmann, Britt Johnson and Brooke Ash.

The Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11 AM, with visitation 9:30 to 11:00 AM both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 100 6th Street West, Jordan, MN 55352. Pastor Jeremy Glowicki will officiate. Erna will be laid to rest next to her husband Allen at Spirit Hill Cemetery, Jordan, MN.

The Fehlandt family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Jordan Chapel.
