Eric D. Hawkinson was born on September 9, 1970 in Louisville KY the son of A.D. and JoAnn Hawkinson. Eric was a graduate of West Bend, WI High School. Eric worked for Allianz Life and later for CBIZ in Minneapolis, MN as a director of business development.
On June 27, 1998 Eric was united in marriage to Amanda (Arquette) Hawkinson at the Little Stone church on Mackinac Island, MI. A very strong and passionate soul, Eric was stronger than most could ever imagine. His bravery through chemotherapy, radiation and multiple surgeries over the last 10 years had been remarkable. He kept up the fight to get better until his last day. Eric was a fighter and always stayed positive through his courageous battle with cancer.
Eric loved to help people and was always there to help. Not much stopped Eric when he put his mind to it. Eric enjoyed old restored cars and the stories behind them. He was sure he would one day have his story and car to share with other car enthusiasts. Eric went to Sparrow Bush, NY and came back with his dream car of a 63 XKE Jaguar. Eric was a creative soul and soon developed his own company Horses and Horse Power. He would organize and gather people together to raise funds for various local charities. Eric would volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Homes for Independent Living of Wisconsin, LLC. Eric was a true philanthropist and cared for others.
Eric is forever loved by wife, Amanda; parents, A.D. and JoAnn Hawkinson; brother, Mitch (Joan “Babe”) Hawkinson; other relatives and friends.
John 11:25-26 “I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”

Eric was both brother and son to me as we were separated by so many years. He was an inspiration in his love of life and fight with cancer. We are so grateful for Amanda’s commitment to care for him at home in his final days. We will miss him desperately but our hope in Christ comforts us knowing that a way was made for his eternal joy and wholeness. Brother, you’ve gone before but we will soon follow.

For a short while I worked at Southcross Auto Service and had the pleasure of being Eric’s service advisor. Despite losing sleep over the peculiar and difficult to diagnose issues with his awesome Jeep, Eric was such a pleasure to work with. He was so generous and patient and just wanted all the little quirks sorted out. As a fellow Grand Cherokee enthusiast, I was eager to to help him get his ride ready for his long trips to the U.P. of Michigan. I have been out of the industry for over a year now, but Eric is a customer I will never forget. My condolences to his family and friends.

Amanda, our deepest condolences to you and your family. You and Eric have been wonderful neighbors and friends; it has been difficult not seeing Eric out and about this spring; but we know he is in a much better place. Some of Eric’s last words continue to stay with me, as he had reminded me to “enjoy life; work is not that important; family and friends are most important”. Despite all of the challenges he had faced the past few years, he always put a positive spin on things, and always, no matter what, would ask how we were doing, and if we needed anything. He had a heart of gold. We have enjoyed the time we were given getting to know you and Amanda. We have been blessed with the best neighbors.

I was just praying today about Eric. It had been such a long time since we’ve spoken. I’m so sorry I didn’t reach out earlier to send my condolences over the loss of such a sweet and lively person. He truly lit up every space he entered. I pray you find solice in the fact that you will be reunited with him again in God’s kingdom.
