Eileen F. Busse, age 84 of Prior Lake, passed away September 12, 2017 from health complications caused by Alzheimer’s. Eileen’s family will greet friends from 1-3:00PM on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake. A funeral service will begin at 3:00PM with Pastor Paul Olson presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Animal Humane Society or Alzheimer’s association.
On February 26, 1933 in Shakopee, MN, parents Henry “Hank” and Mabel (Felepe) Hueser celebrated the birth of their daughter, Eileen Frances Hueser. She was the fourth of sixth children. Growing up, Eileen was incredibly active—she loved dancing and roller skating! Eileen attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Shakopee where she academically excelled. She was an avid reader, great speller, and had an artistic flare.
Eileen’s life was enriched when she met a young man at the Spring Lake Ballroom. A snazzy dresser, Jerry Busse caught Eileen’s eye. The two were married in Iowa on February 6, 1951 while traveling to Fort Sill, OK for Jerry’s job as a Mess Sergeant. As a Mess Sergeant, Jerry taught Eileen how to cook and bake—skills that she quickly learned and perfected. The couple returned to Prior Lake to raise their family upon Jerry’s discharge from the army.
An exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Eileen dedicated herself to her family. Together, they worked on the family’s farm and enjoyed the little things in life. When they weren’t working, Eileen and Jerry took memorable vacations to Las Vegas and Hawaii. At age 65, Eileen officially retired, but could not tolerate being idle. She pursued her hobbies and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren—they were loved and spoiled by Eileen.
In May 2016, Eileen was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. While this was a difficult transition requiring her to move into assisted living, Eileen was blessed with a family who dedicated themselves to her care.
Eileen was a compassionate, nurturing individual who will be missed and remembered every day by her children, Pamela (Dennis) Jergenson, Sherry Kelton-Harvotich, Robin (Bob) Cody, Bruce (Svetlana) Busse and Sandy Busse; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Delores Luebke, Annette (Glenn) Willmsen and Deanna (John) Hergott.
Eileen will be greeted in heaven by her husband, Jerry; sister, Helen Brinkhaus; brother, Harold Hueser.
The Busse family is proudly cared for by the staff of Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home & Cremation.

My sincere and deepest sympathy to the entire Busse family. My folks and your folks shared a lot of good times.
She was one of the sweetest, kindest and genuinely good people I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I married my way in to Eileen’s family through her granddaughter Melissa, but from day one she treated me like someone she knew all her life. Her home was always welcoming, and you were greeted with a smile and usually fed until you were very full. Her cooking was fantastic. I loved her like my own grandma, and will always remember her that way. God bless and keep you Grandma Eileen and thank you for taking me in the way you did, I love you.
