Dolores “Ginny” Jean (Bowker) Jefferson, age 92, of Prior Lake, MN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 2 pm, with a time of gathering starting at 1 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN. Pastor A. Paul Olson will preside. Ginny will be laid to rest at a private family burial at Spring Lake Cemetery, Prior Lake, MN.

Ginny was born in St Paul, MN to Allyn and Myrtle (McEvoy) Bowker. She married in 1949 to Walter Jefferson Jr. The couple was blessed with four children.

Ginny was mainly a homemaker raising the children until Walt passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 53. She then joined the workforce full time, as an aid with special needs children in the public schools. Ginny went on to work as a medical records clerk at Fairview Southdale Hospital and as a receptionist at Family Physicians.

Much of the kid’s teenage summers were spent at the cabin on Prior Lake, where countless memoires were made. The family renovated the cabin and moved there, such that she spent most of 40 years in Prior Lake. Decades of memories linger of holiday gatherings and fun times at the lake. Ginny thoroughly enjoyed hosting both family and friends. She took great pleasure in being with her grandchildren and especially with the great-grandchildren, in her later years.

Left to cherish Ginny’s memory are her children, Walt (Jan Klaas) Jefferson III of Surprise, AZ, Nancy (Jim) Haertel of White Bear Lake, Mike (Sheila) Jefferson of Eden Prairie, Peter (Claire) Jefferson of Sturtevant, WI; former daughters-in-law, Kathy Luebke Jefferson, Anne Schneider Jefferson; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly, Evan and Elliana Jefferson; Matt, Brandy and Autumn Jefferson: Keisha Jefferson and Abhi Shek; Aimee Jefferson; Laura and Eric Tadt: Nick Jefferson and Courtney Bauer; Anna Jefferson; Amber, Andy, Rosalie, Adalynn and Fiona Baas; Brittny, Joe, Payton and Luke Wishmann; Noelle, Zak and Wesley Koslo; other special relatives and friends.

Ginny is preceded in death by husband, Walter Jefferson Jr and parents, Allyn and Myrtle Bowker.
