Delores I. (Busse) Sheehan

Delores Ida Sheehan was born on March 8, 1922 in Credit River, MN, to parents Paul and Verona (Suhrbier) Busse, Sr. She was proud of spending most of her life as a Credit River resident, first on the family farm with her parents and siblings and later when she and Joe purchased their own farm. Their farmhouse was the site for many family gatherings as she loved to entertain and spend time with all her relatives.

When her own children were older, Delores became a cook at St. Michael’s Catholic School in Prior Lake, where she was known for her homemade cinnamon rolls. She loved being around the children at school and would count those years among her fondest memories. She also really enjoyed playing cards with her friends from both Prior Lake and later, Cameron Woods, in Farmington.

Delores married Joseph Sheehan on November 8, 1944 at Incarnation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They were blessed with six children, Bonnie, Jim, Jerry, Kathy, Bob and John. Besides raising the children and being an immaculate housekeeper, she also took an active hand in operating the farm. The kids would say that mom was the “glue” that kept the family together.

Known as a strong, loving and patient lady, Delores, age 91, entered God’s arms on the morning hours of April 1, 2013 after a massive stroke that took place just two days prior.

Delores will be deeply missed by her children, Bonnie (Bob) Cameron of Prior Lake, Jim Sheehan of Prior Lake, Jerry (Nancy) Sheehan of St. Louis Park, Kathy (Bill Smith) Jacobson of Prior Lake, Bob (Terry) Sheehan of Prior Lake, John Sheehan of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Dan Cameron, Kelly (Bryan) Logue, Rick (Missy) Sheehan, Bill (Li) Jacobson, Sarah Jacobson, Ben Jacobson, Meagan (Kevin) Elsbury, Bryce Sheehan, Gina Sheehan; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Paul (Lorraine) Busse, Jr.; sisters in law, Rita Finnegan, Eileen Busse, Alice Busse and many other loving relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Sheehan; grandson, Todd Sheehan; parents, Paul and Verona (Suhrbier) Busse, Sr.; siblings, Marcella Tholkes, Jerry Busse, Luverne Klingberg, Harold Busse, Dick Busse.

Delores’ pall bearers will be Ben Jacobson, Bill Jacobson, Bryce Sheehan, Dan Cameron, Nik Logue, Rick Sheehan.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 4-7 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the mass at church on Thursday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 11 a.m., at the Church of St. Michael, 16311 Duluth Avenue, Prior Lake. Father Tom Sieg will preside. In a private interment, Delores will be laid to rest next to her husband, Joe at Credit River Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Michael’s Catholic School in Prior Lake.

The Sheehan family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation Services, Prior Lake Chapel.
