David’s life story

David “Scruffy” Trulson

David Robert Trulson was born on Oct 11, 1966 in Minneapolis, MN, to parents John and Jeri (Swanson) Trulson. He was the youngest of three children. In his younger years, David enjoyed dirt biking, water skiing on Prior Lake and snow skiing at Buck Hill. David graduated from Prior Lake High school and spent most of his life living in Prior Lake.

David married Laurie (Rodenberg) and soon after they were blessed with two beautiful girls,
Ashley and Abigail, his pride and joy. The girls remember the early years being with their dad at the swimming pool and having fun in Candy Cove on Prior Lake. The girls always had dad’s upper hand as he let them buy scratch off’s, drive the golf cart and “going on shopping sprees”. The girls meant everything to David and he was very proud of all of their accomplishments.

In recent years, David was reunited with his high school sweetheart, Tricia Burandt. They enjoyed their time together including doing quite a bit of traveling.

David’s career first started as he went to work at mom and dad’s business, Quality Waste, where David did many different jobs and earned the named “Scruffy”. He ended up in sales, the job he truly enjoyed and excelled at.

He enjoyed duck and deer hunting, ice fishing, softball, cooking, especially making his mom’s Hawaiian burgers. He enjoyed his Dalmatians and Beagles, Ruffis, Axel, Buster, Rocky and Ace.

Known for his big heart and infectious smile, David died unexpectedly at the age of 46 on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in Prior Lake. Two of David’s most difficult times of his life were dealing with the unexpected loss of his sister, Patti and his mother, Jeri. The family takes great solace knowing there will be a wonderful reunion with his sister and mother.

Forever loved, David will be deeply missed by his daughters, Ashley and Abigail and their mother, Laurie of Lakeville; father, John (Tamara) Trulson of Prior Lake; brother, Mike (Sharon) Trulson of Clinton, MN; step-brother, Ryan Swanson of Prior Lake; nieces and nephews, Josh, Matt, Jennifer and Stephanie and many other loving relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his mother, Jeri Trulson; sister, Patti Trulson;

David’s pall bearers will be Josh Trulson, Matt Trulson, Kenny Trulson, Jon “Schmidty” Schmidt, Dan Miller, K. C. Kauser, Joe Kauser.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 20th, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. Pastor Mark Holman will preside. David will be laid to rest next his mother, Jeri and sister, Patti at Spring Lake Cemetery, Prior lake.

The Trulson family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake Chapel.
