David L. Roseth was 72 years old when he passed away peacefully on September 4, 2015 in the presence of his family at Golden Living Center-Lake Ridge, Roseville, MN.

A Celebration of Life Service honoring Dave’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 11:00 am with visitation starting at 9:30 am, all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake, MN, with full military honors provided by the Prior Lake Veterans Honor Guard. The Reverend A. Paul Olson will preside, with grandchildren Emily and Preston being the urn bearers. Dave will be laid to rest at a private family interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.

Oscar and Dorothy (Korfhage) Roseth welcomed their first of two children David Leonard born on December 9, 1942 in Austin, MN. As a young boy, he enjoyed building the family cabin in Mille Lacs Lake, MN with his dad and grandparents. It was here Dave enjoyed deer hunting and fishing too. Attending Austin High School, he enjoyed being involved in the band playing the baritone. After graduating in 1960, Dave attending a junior college earning an associate’s degree. Jumping around in jobs, he and a friend decided to enlist in the United States Navy. He was stationed in California for the next 4 years.

While working at the Austin Piggly Wiggly supermarket during high school, Dave had his eyes set on a favorite customer. Her name was Diane Gilderhus. They dated most of the high school years and finally on June 26, 1965 in Adams, MN, Dave and Diane became husband and wife. They were blessed to raise two wonderful sons, Scott and Dan. Dave and Diane first settled their roots in California for a few years, due to him being in the Navy. Missing the changes of the season and the hunting opportunities of Minnesota, they came home too, to be once again closer to family. Taking up residence in South Minneapolis and then to Bloomington, the Roseth family enjoyed free time camping all over Minnesota. Especially the years in the travel trailer they called the ‘Rambling Rose.’ In 1977, Dave, Diane and the boys called Prior Lake their home, where they experienced life living in the country. Here, he relished being Scott and Dan’s Cub Scout leader and later became a district trainer, educating the new leaders and refreshing the established leaders. Dave was always proud of his boys. He truly enjoyed spending countless hours on the sidelines cheering on Scott in baseball and Dan in football.

Over the years, Dave found himself bouncing around to different jobs, mainly due to the faulted of the economy or companies going to the wayside. A skilled man in many areas, he never had a difficult time finding a new job. Dave did work for 10 years at Poly Tech in account receivable and later years sharing his wealth of knowledge of fixing and building projects at Knox/Lowes.

When not providing for his family. Dave enjoyed being a weekend deer hunting warrior. He was a two term commander for the Prior Lake V.F.W. and honored veterans with military honors. Dave also served on the Prior Lake Planning Commission Board for 10 years and was involved in a south of the river barbershop choir years ago. As businesses came and went over the years, one of his favorite pastimes was spent having coffee with the guys at a local establishment. Many world problems were solved, opinions were created and strong friendships formed.

Dave will be remembered for always having a full thermos of coffee in tow, a cup in one hand and a cigarette in the other. He loved the personal connections made through the years and took a true interest in people’s lives. Dave was a good and kind person, who would extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Yet, he enjoyed pulling pranks and was known for his one liners and great come backs.

A loving and dedicated husband and father, Dave was an exceptional grandpa, even though his years of having Dementia. Left to honor Dave’s life and will forever miss him is wife, Diane; sons, Scott (Connie) Roseth, Dan (Amanda) Roseth; grandchildren, Emily, Preston and Hannah Roseth; step-grandchildren, Chris (Colleen) Hackley, Tyler (Jil) Hackley; step-great grandchildren, Charlotte and Cora Hackley; sister, Betty (Dick) Rausch; other relatives and friends. He was welcomed home in heaven by his parents.
