David’s life story

David L. Freeborn

David L. Freeborn was born on September 13, 1948 in Woodstock, Ontario to parents Richard and Lorraine (Benson) Freeborn. David’s childhood years were spent in Minneapolis and eventually graduated from Roosevelt high school. He spent his summers with his grandparents and other relatives helping on the family farm.

David had a lifelong love of raising collies. This first started as a young child as he helped his mom and dad raise his favorite dogs and ever since he has owned a collie.

David had a keen eye for design and architecture and started his own remodeling business, Freeborn and Sons Construction. He widened his talents and did many other projects including painting and restoring cars and wood boats. He even had a spectacular green thumb, working with exotic green plants and nurturing them into a beautiful design.

He, his wife Lorraine and the kids would always do an annual trip, doing such things as camping, fishing or making a trip to Sturgis for the annual bike rally.

Known as a patient, loyal and artistic man, David passed away peacefully at his home on the afternoon hours of Saturday, October 27, 2012.

Forever loved, David will be deeply missed by his children, Melissa Freeborn of Prior Lake, Ryan Freeborn of New Prague, Jared Freeborn of Prior Lake; siblings, Reney Freeborn of Minneapolis, Brad (Ida) Freeborn of Farmington, Dan (Michelle) Freeborn of Rockford, MN; many other loving relatives and friends.

David is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Freeborn; parents, Richard and Lorraine (Benson) Freeborn; brother, Brian Freeborn.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 p. m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake.

David’s ashes will be spread by his family in Custer State Park in South Dakota near a stream amongst the beauty of the place he visited so often.

The Freeborn family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, Prior Lake Chapel.
