Dave was the first child born to Marvin and Jeanine Spomer on September 24, 1964, in Sioux Falls, SD. He spent his first years living in Marion, SD, where his love of cars was nurtured by his dad.

In 1972 the family, including Dave’s younger sister Debra, moved to Worthington, MN. He spent his school years there, graduating from Worthington High School in 1982. Dave spent many days of his childhood at the local pool, his grandpa’s farm in South Dakota, and cruising around town on his bicycle, skateboard, and later by car.

Dave played on the WHS football team, and he thoroughly enjoyed football season throughout his life. After attending community college in Worthington and graduating from St Cloud State University in 1987, he moved to Rochester, MN. Dave met his wife Diane while they were both living in Rochester, and they were married in October 1993. They made Savage, MN their home in 1994, and raised 2 children there, Amanda was born in 2001, and Paul in 2003.

Dave spent the majority of his working years in the car business, first at his dad’s dealership, Spomer Motors, then later at Grossman Chevrolet, and lastly at US Bank as an Account Manager in the automotive division. This position at US Bank was a perfect fit for Dave, given his amiable personality and excellent attention to details. He loved to serve his customers, and highly valued the business relationships that he established.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed boating, bicycling, skating, skateboarding, skiing, car shows and exploring nature. He had a great memory for obscure sports facts, car knowledge, and music trivia. He enjoyed planning vacations for his family, and he loved animals, especially his dogs.

Dave’s life journey took a turn when he was diagnosed with a vascular brain tumor in 2019. He suffered many related health crises since then but did not complain during any of these trials and remained his sweet, gentle self. His soul passed peacefully into heaven on Monday evening, February 13th, with loving family by his side. We cherish the memory of our dear Dave and know he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and is now in glory with Him.

Survived by his loving family, including wife Diane, daughter Amanda and son Paul; parents Marvin and Jeanine Spomer; sister Debra (Michael) Terning; numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Henry and Clara Spomer; Arnold and Jennie Schmidt; and his in-laws, Orville and Valeda Ruesch.
