The story of Dan Denman is all too short and yet very complex….
On June 23, 1983, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, MN, Dan was born the second of two children to parents, Robert “Bob” and Dianne (Matuska) Denman. His first five years were spent living in Eden Prairie, MN. At the age of five, his parents moved to Prior Lake, MN, where Dan spent the rest of his life.
Dan was a devoted father, loving and loyal brother, courageous son and steadfast friend. He is loved by many especially his soul mate and true love, fiancé Michon.
His pride and joy is his daughter Keegan. He was an incredible dad and a great guiding force in her life. He is so proud of what a wonderful young lady she is. Keegan has her dad’s sense of humor…it is a gift that they both know how to use. They share a bond like few you will ever see. They enjoy spending time together, caring for their rescue dogs Ginger and Jasper, hanging out at family functions, taking in a Wild game, watching football or just chilling with his Lucy Lu.
Dan is the younger brother of sister Darci. They could communicate volumes to one another by just a “look”! Dan looked up to his big sister and her love and friendship helped Dan through his many moments in life. They had many great times on the lake, on family vacations to places near and far and again just chilling. They always have each other’s back and you would be wise to not cross that line. Dan became quick friends with Darci’s husband Rob. Rob was the big brother that Dan never had, although Dan would make it abundantly clear he was the boss. Dan is the uncle that you always loved as a kid, he is the FUN uncle. He truly enjoyed his Goddaughter Presley, melting when she came into the room. Niece Bryce was always giggling when Uncle Dan was around. He had a way with her.
As a son, Dan filled the life of Dianne and Bob. Dan had both triumphs and tragedy in his short time. An adventurous young child, always on the move, always asking Mom why and what. He was Dianne’s little cuddler and Bob’s buddy. Great memories of family trips, the RV to the Black Hills, Jamaica, Ireland and many more. At age 17 Dan faced his first big challenge in life. He lost a leg in a boating accident and was forever changed. He never, ever had a minute of woe is me. It was quite a challenge but out of it grew his greatest triumph for both he and his parents. The birth of Keegan at age 19 was a catalyst moment in Dan’s life. Setting him on a path to being a truly fine person. Bob and Dianne could not be prouder of all that he is.
In February 2014 his life took yet another turn. A really good turn. He met the love of his life Michon. Together they brought out the best in each other. Both had new motivation and passion for life. Things were never better, great life partner, planning a September wedding, business really taking off and Keegan close to their side. What a wonderful year Michon gave to Dan.
Dan has an amazing quantity of high quality friends. He loved to spend time with his posse. Whether it was Fantasy Football season, doing a little ice fishing, gaming or just chilling Dan was a force in many of their lives. Confident is his opinion he shared it frequently and his good buddies always sought him out when looking for advice on something. If you were a good friend you had a Dan “nickname”. Was not always pretty but in some way it was well earned. Dan was the life of the party, he managed to win his fair share of them. Dan was never shy to ask a buddy for help but always there when you needed him for something.
Dan loved his extended family, his many aunts and uncles, grandparents, cousins, nieces and soon to be in laws. He loved to golf, a passion he picked up from his grandfather Bud Denman. He was an exceptional sales
On February 17, 2015 at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Daniel Robert Denman passed away unexpectedly from a brain aneurysm, at the age of 31 and a resident of Prior Lake, MN. His last act of generosity was being an organ and skin donor. He literally has given the gift of Life to others. His liver to an 18 year old boy, a kidney to a 57 year old woman and a kidney to a friend. Touching the lives of 55 to 60 people through his donations. A great legacy for our Daniel. It helps make some sense of it all.
Dan’s life will be honored at a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, February 20 at 3:00 pm with a visitation from 1 to 3 pm, at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church 3611 North Berens Road NW, Prior Lake, MN. The Reverend Diana Hunstad will preside. Pall bearers for Dan will be Nick Monson, Rob Smith, Chase Jurgensen, Brock Jurgensen, Paul Busselman, Sean Bongard, Nick Tofanelli, Brent Rausch, Ryan Mullin and Andy Shrader. Memorials preferred and will be distributed in Dan’s memory by the family.
And on we go……..

Cassandra, and the Moe family,
I am beside myself to be writing this message of condolence. I have great memories of my friendship with Dan all growing up, through high school and beyond. Time has past, and our paths have separated over the years, however, I feel a great connection still to those times in my heart. I am deeply saddened to receive this very tragic and unexpected news. I can not even begin to express the sympathy I have for his friends, family, daughter, and his fiancé. We are all truly blessed to have been able to have the time we each did with him while he was here. He will live on in all our memories and in his daughter Keegan.
All my love, prayers and thoughts,
Cassandra Moe
Words can’t express our sorrow for Dan’s family. We will be keeping all of the Denman family in our thoughts.
Beautiful story…..beautiful life….beautiful person! Thoughts and prayers to all.
As I wipe the tears reading Dan’s Obituary, my heart is so touched by the beautiful rendition of Dan’s life, the person he grew to be and all of you that were so very special in his life. From the day he was born and celebrated as a wonderful gift of God, to the wonderful amazing person he grew to be, Beautiful! The key, Danny was a gift, through all of his life he brought joy, smiles, worries, stress, laughs, triumphs, all to be proud of. Through him everyone around him grew and was touched by him and so rewarding to know that even in his passing, he continued to give life and touched so many! He will always be that wonderful man, father, brother, uncle, friend, companion, fiance, and son! He will continue to be the subject of loving stories and reliving all the moments he made you laugh, cry, smile and love. He will always hold a very special place in your hearts forever! That will never go away! Wish I could be there to share in his Celebration of Life! My heart aches for all of you. May you find the strength and courage for the next days and weeks ahead with all the love and support that surrounds you and continue to be the wonderful support for the gifts Danny left to you in Keegan and Michon. Continue to celebrate his life and the short time the Lord gave him to you! Sending you lots of hugs and love! Sharing in your tears 🙁
Bob and Diane,,
I am so very sorry to hear about the loss of Dan. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire Denman family. Dan was an amazing person and definitely be missed by all that new him.
With deepest condolences,
John
I remember Dan from bits and pieces of growing up in Prior Lake. The only time I remember being in class with him through all 13 years at school was 8th grade English, where he sat behind me and joked with me every day. I don’t think Mrs Frank liked either one of us very much. He always had a group of friends around and it is a joy to see that most of those close relationships have continued.
I am deeply saddened to hear this shocking news. At 31, you think you are too young…. and by most accounts you are. I am reminded this week that I need to live a life of intention as I never know when it will be my last day!
My thoughts and prayers are with Dan’s family, friends and loved ones. So sorry for your loss! May you remember Dan in the small things which will help sustain through the times you miss him most! He will surely be missed.
Abbie Fox

Hello Denman family!
It has been a long time, not sure if you remember me….it’s Aubren Dornbush,
I lived on the lake down the street. I loved your family!
I will always remember Dan as Darci’s cute little brother who brought May Flowers to my house on Fish Point Road. The significance of his thoughtful act has stayed with me through the past 20 years since seeing him last. It sounds like he turned into the man I knew as a kid, generous and thoughtful! My heart goes out to the entire Denman family for your loss!
I just read the sad news about Dan. My heart is sad and my thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time. Life can be very unfair at times. I saw Dan at the Wilds a couple years ago and got a big hug. What a handsome and nice young man.
Rest in peace Dan.
I went to school with Dan from the time he started at PL until we graduated. Never an unkind word, although some very funny ones of what I remember. I am so sorry that this happened to such a shining light and our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family and friends.
Bob, Dianne, Darci, Michon, and Keegan,
Words cannot express how heartbroken we are over the loss of your beloved son Dan. It has been our distinct pleasure in getting to know Dan and your family over the last several years, what a wonderful family. May the beautiful memories of Dan give you peace in this difficult time.
My condolences to Dan ‘ s family and many friends. It’s very clear by the broken hearts around me as a prior lake bartender just how loved and valued he was.
May all that love and all those memories help you all find peace and may Dan be forever carried in your hearts and memories. ♡
Bob, Diane and family, our condolences on your loss, we will keep him in our prayers. Be proud you raised such a good son.
I went to school with Dan, and he was one of the most well liked kids in school. Always making people laugh and would talk to anyone. After high school I would see him every now and then, but he still was the same person that people gravitated towards. He was a great father, friend, and over all great person. Dan…….you will be missed but never forgotten.
So sorry for your loss. My prayers are with all of you through the this difficult time.
Words cannot express our sorrow for your loss. May Jesus hold all of you in his arms and bring you peace.
Dear Denman Family, We had the honor to meet your son in Cancun Mexico 5 years ago. We were on vacation with 3 families and we all had the best week with Dan and his friends. We could tell he was a great young man. Even though we haven’t seen him, we all stayed in touch via social media. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult and sad time.
