Curtis R Mohr, age 78, of Prior Lake, MN, passed peacefully early Thursday morning, June 24, 2021, at St. Gertrude’s Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Shakopee, MN.

A Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 30, at 11:30 am, with a time of gathering starting at 10 am, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 16840 Highway 13 South, Prior Lake. Pastor Stephen Schmiel will preside. Family will act as urn bearers. Curtis will be laid to rest at Summit Cemetery, in Morris, MN, on Thursday, July 1 at 1 pm. Memorials are preferred to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Curtis Robert was born on November 12, 1942, to Robert H and Aileen M (Giese) Mohr. Born and raised in Morris, he was the third of twelve children. Curtis had a normal childhood attending school and playing with friends and neighbors. In high school, he enjoyed playing football and ultimately took on the role as Captain. Curtis graduated from Morris Senior High School, in 1960.

Curtis attended University of Morris for a time, exploring a degree as a Chemist. He eventually moved to the Twins Cities Metro area and began working for Hitchcock Industries, as a chemist. Curtis then took his expertise to Control Data, Circuit Services, Advance Flex and ended his career at Macdermid, Inc.

Through mutual friends, Curtis met and married Mavis Westphal on June 6, 1964, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Morris. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Wade and Heidi. In 1969, the Mohr family moved to Prior Lake. This home was the center of family life. Curtis bought all the toys you would have at a cabin. They especially loved motoring countless hours on the snowmobiles and ATV’s. After 30 years of marriage, Curtis and Mavis parted ways.

Curtis once again found love and married Kitty Hamilton on September 6, 1997, at Minnesota Valley Community Church, in Prior Lake. As a couple, they loved to travel. Through Curtis’ employment, they were blessed with international trips to Turkey and Greece. Curtis and Kitty eventually purchased a winter home in Surprise, AZ. He loved this community life, socializing with people and partaking in the local attractions, especially the golf courses.

Outside of family and work, Curtis had a deep passion for golfing. Every chance he could, Curtis was on the golf course. He even designed and sold golf clubs. Curtis was a competitive card player and enjoyed many years being active in the Prior Lake Snowmobile Associations. He had a great sense of humor, loved to tease and was the designer of nicknames for people. Curtis’ mind was always working and coming up with new ideas. In more recent years, he developed a special watering system to use in his container garden.

It was Curtis’ strong faith that was truly his foundation through life. He was a devoted servant of the Lord. Curtis took great pride in teaching the word of God, any chance he could. Curtis was committed and an active member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Prior Lake.

Forever loved, Curtis will be missed by wife, Kitty Mohr; daughter, Heidi Mohr; grandchildren, Jayde Mohr, Samairah Mohr, Zachary Wilhelm, Kennedy Bock; great grandson, Grayson; siblings, Marladene Mohr, Cindy (Rick) Swenson, Jerri Browning, Judy Mohr; sisters-in-law, Marlene Mohr, Anita Schock, Kathy Mohr; brothers-in-law, Bill Murphy, Lee Webb; and countless other family members and friends.
