A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM, with a time of gathering from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, both at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee. Craig will be laid to rest at the Shakopee Catholic Cemetery.

Craig’s service will be streamed at the following link: Craig Hallett Service (Meeting ID: 847 9600 7514 / Passcode: 496367).

Richard and Margie (Nothem) Hallett announced the birth of Craig Donald, who was born on May 23, 1953, in Le Mars, IA. He was the fourth of seven children in the Hallett family: Mike, Patty, Mark, Craig, Dick, Kris and Lisa. Craig lived in Remsen, IA until the age of four, before the family moved to Spencer, IA, where he remained for decades. As a young boy, Craig would tag along with his father and be his helper building homes. He loved carpentry! Craig attended Sacred Heart Catholic School through the eighth grade. He then attended Spencer High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball, participating in track, cross country, and golf, which became a lifelong passion.

After graduating from high school in 1971, Craig eventually went into the masonry business with his younger brother Dick Jr for many years. Life was enriched for Craig marrying Nancy Jane Loutsch on May 21, 1977, in Le Mars, IA. During the time in Spencer, they built two homes and welcomed three precious children, Heidi, Chad, and Tyler. In 1986, the Hallett family moved north to Shakopee, MN. Craig continued working in the housing market building homes, selling real estate, and eventually truly found his passion in home inspection. For 23 years, Craig and Nancy owned and operated C and N Home Inspections. He loved his job and did it well! Craig loved helping people find the right home for them. He loved telling them all about the mechanics of the home.

Besides his career, Craig’s other passion in life was family. The Hallett’s enjoyed vacations fishing, exploring the Black Hills, Colorado, and Disneyland. Craig and Nancy purchased a boat and as a family enjoyed skiing, swimming, and fishing. As a couple, they spent countless hours manicuring their yard, working in the garden, and remodeling their home. Craig and Nancy loved cooking together, with him being a master grill chef. His life was enriched again becoming a grandpa. Craig was an active grandpa and loved to spoil them! He enjoyed the precious times being outside taking them to the park, playing on the play set and shooting hoops. Craig loved playing board games and ping pong with them too.

Craig loved the simple things in life. He was an avid golf watcher, enjoyed listening to the Minnesota Twins and occasionally the Vikings. Craig remained a true supporter and fan of the Iowa Hawkeye’s. He loved his home and just being home surrounded by family. Craig was committed staying connected with his siblings and their families and events. Craig loved gardening, watching the flight of an eagle, and enjoying natures beauty. He was patriotic, remained knowledgeable on current events and loved the companionship of man’s best friend…his dogs.

Craig Donald Hallett was honest, fair, kind, and soft hearted. He was always happy and loved seeing others laughing. In October of 2020, Craig was diagnosed with Glioblastoma. He fought a valiant fight. Craig will be forever loved and deeply missed by wife, Nancy; children, Heidi (Charlie) Bohn, Chad (Lindsey) Hallett, Tyler Hallett; grandchildren, Cody Bohn, Joey Bohn, Lewis Hallett, Hannah Hallett, Harper Hallett; siblings, Patty (Russ) Valentine, Mark (Sue) Hallett, Richard Hallett Jr, Kris (Jerry) Illg, Lisa (Brad) Baxter; other loving relatives and friends.

Greeting Craig in Heaven are his parents, Richard Sr and Margie, brother, Michael Hallett, and sister-in-law, Sheri Hallett.

Nancy, Heidi, Chad and Tyler, I remember the first time I met your Dad at the Hallett’s Christmas gathering he was very welcoming , genuine, and fun to be around. Over the past 23 years whenever we got together he would have a smile on his face and his easy going attitude would always be nice to be around. He would catch us up on the new things his grandkids were doing and be interested in what was going on in our lives. Heaven gained a good man that will truly be missed. Until next time my friend.

Nancy and all
I’m so very sorry to hear about Craig, I heard he was at our 50th reunion for High School on Fri night, but didn’t get to see him, he left early. I felt saddened because he and my brother were so close and he sent the nicest email to me after my brother passed. I would have loved to have seen him! I sent a email after the reunion and he explained why he couldn’t stay. I totally understood but would have LOVED to have seen him, once again. May God wrap his arms around you all and give you peace. he will be missed!
