Colleen Sundlie, age 58 of Prior Lake, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 11AM with a visitation starting at 9:30AM all at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake. Guests who are unable to attend in person can live stream the funeral via zoom at Colleen’s Celebration of Life (Meeting ID: 993 6333 1521 / Passcode: 288337)
On June 2, 1962 in Minneapolis, MN, parents Dennis and Kathleen (Hunter) Sundlie celebrated the birth of their first child, Colleen Marie Sundlie. She was the oldest of three children. Colleen lived up to the role of “Big Sister” wholeheartedly—she was independent, a bit bossy, and lovingly protective of her sister Kelly and brother Dennis. When her mother passed away, Colleen stepped up and carried on family traditions. She was an amazing sister and a generous Aunt.
Following her graduation from Burnsville High School in 1980, Colleen entered the workforce. For many years, she worked in medical device sales with McKesson Medical and later Waste Management. Colleen also worked part time at the Savage American Legion for more than 20 years selling pull-tabs and a little waitressing when needed. No matter the job, Colleen showed up with her personable, hard working attitude. She was not only a great coworker, but a wonderful friend.
Colleen had the unique ability to make friends everywhere she went. She cultivated friendships that lasted a lifetime. Whether it was a childhood friend, someone she worked with or recently met at the Legion, Colleen made everyone feel special and important.
She loved nothing more than calling her friends for lengthy chats, getting together for lunch and a movie or going to a concert. Colleen enjoyed time in Florida with her sister and summers on Prior Lake. If you didn’t tie her floatie to the pontoon, she was sure to drift away and find another group to spend time with—she truly made friends anywhere, anytime!
Colleen’s empathy and generosity never wavered, even when faced with her own tough times. She will forever be remembered for her love she shared so willingly with others.
Colleen is loved and missed by her brother Dennis (Cathy) Sundlie and their children, Katie Seeley and Andrew Sundlie; sister, Kelly (Rod) Green; her beloved kitties, Molly and Maddie; other loving relatives and countless devoted friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dennis Sr. and Kathleen.

Dear Sundlie Family, It is with a saddened heart that finds this opportunity to say how sorry I am for your loss. I can hear her infectious laugh. And I will miss the sparkle in her eyes that mimicked the sparkle your mother held in her eyes. The soul of Colleen was her inexhaustible love of family and friends. That wonderful soul was pure energy. And we all know that energy can never be created or destroyed; it simply changes form. The heavens are brighter now because of her love/soul/energy.
We are so sorry for your loss. Colleen was such a bright light. She will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Colleen you were a bright light in any room you occupied. Your smile, your support, your friendship and your love meant everything to me! I miss you so much! I know you are no longer in pain and I hope you see the network of friends here who are supporting each other through this very difficult time….because you would not want us to be sad, but you would be proud of how we are lifting up each other. Colleen was an amazing person. A friend to everyone she met. She had a smile that always reached her eyes and radiated sunshine. My sincere condolences to her sister Kelly & all the friends & family that are feeling this tremendous loss.

When we last visited with Colleen before Christmas she was her old self! Laughing, joking, making light of her illness and just enjoying life through her struggles. She had a heart of gold and I know for a fact that Terri and I are better people because we were blessed to be a part of her chosen family. God bless you during these tough times.
The words are hard to find. This wonderful, fun loving, beautiful woman was taken too soon. Colleen will shine down on all of us and guide us through these hard times. My deepest sympathy for Kelly and Rod and Denise and his family.
it’s hard to believe that you and I will no longer have our hour long talks. It’s hard to believe I won’t be able to get your feedback on things that I only talked to you about. I am so grateful that you and I were such good friends. Friends like you don’t come along everyday and I am sad you are gone too soon. Thank you for always being such a giving, fun, generous person. I will miss you. Rest in peace my friend.

What a wonderful, beautiful person. She was one of a kind and will be missed. Sending many prayers to you all and may all the wonderful memories you have of her help to comfort you now and in the days to come. Will not be in town for her service, but will be thinking of you all.

I was looking forward to when you and I were healthy and you, me , Kelly and Bev could get together for a girls night. I always considered you another sister. You will be missed so much. But now you have your wings and are free. Until we meet again.
Colleen was bestest friend I met her selling pull tabs and of course I was buying we had a lot of birthday celebrations get togethers we would go to concerts at mystic she loved Kenny Rodgers we would go every time he was there she never got tired of him she would get so excited if she won money out there I’m going to miss her a lot her long phone calls and text messages she always made me laugh luv ya
I was so lucky to have you as a “Big Sister” growing up across the street from you….You were kind and treated me like your brother…Singing with you songs from KC and the Sunshine Band comes to mind when I think of you… I am so heartbroken you have moved on but absolutely honored to have known you….how great it was to be your friend ….I will cherish the memories….Godspeed until we meet again…..
