WEB Cloe

Cloe Spencer (Ritchie) Crabtree was taken too soon and tragically from a car accident early Saturday morning, September 24, 2016, at the young age of 18. She was a beacon of light to those who came in contact with her. Cloe had an infectious laugh, a silly personality and a beautiful heart! She loved people and loved life!

Cloe had just started college at Normandale and her goal was to become a Registered Nurse. She loved and was a wonderful cellist. Thank you to Robert Hahn at Prior Lake High School for letting Cloe show her musical gifts, while in her senior year. Cloe loved attending church at Hosanna and singing loud with her beautiful voice. Cloe loved spending time with her family and friends, and laughing until it hurt.

“I saw a beautiful figure of a swan in the clouds on the day you passed and I watched as the swan’s shape melted back into the clouds. God lets us see beauty…sometimes only for a short time. You were so beautiful inside and out. We love you baby!!!” Mom

Left to honor Cloe’s life and will forever miss her deeply is her mother, Janice and true father figure, Steven Ritchie; brother, Brady Ritchie; grandparents, Marguerite (Donald Poczerwinski) Brook, Ronald (Marlene Anderson) Rehbein, Dennis and Linda Ritchie; aunts and uncles, Laurie (Jason) Ekstrand, Eugene (Terri) Rehbein, Rhonda Neimann; cousins, Savannah, Daryl, Heather, Bailey and Shelby. She will be missed by extended family, the entire Huesman family including the “crazy uncle.” Countless others, supporters, family and friends, Angie, Neets, Gina, Jenny and Sarah. Cloe’s mother’s entire group of co-workers past and present always made her feel special. Cloe’s very best and closest friend, even though miles apart, Haley Davis. Other friends Katie, Lexi, Josh and Michael. Cloe was in a relationship with Alx Myhre, who made her laugh out loud.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28, from 4-7 pm at Ballard-Sunder Funeral and Cremation 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake and one hour prior to the service at church. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, September 29 at 11 am, at Hosanna Church 9606 163rd Street West, Lakeville, MN. The service will be led by Pastor Pat Moe. Pallbearers will be Eugene Rehbein, Charlie Huesman, Chris Huesman, Michael Huesman, Carsten Amme, and James Ritchie. A luncheon will follow the service at church.

Condolences for the family of “Cloe Spencer (Ritchie) Crabtree”

Condolence from Butch and Vonda Niemann on September 26th, 2016 4:48 pm

Having traveled this excruciatingly painful road myself in years past, I do have a grasp of what you are feeling and the deep ache which cannot be explained to anyone except to those who have shared that burden. I have learned from walking this same path that the cliché, “Time heals all wounds”, is not true. What I have learned is that time doesn’t heal – JESUS HEALS. So cling to your faith and take comfort that you made it the business of your life to prepare yourself and your children for their last day. If Cloe could speak to you now, I believe she would say; “Thank you, Mom and Dad, thank all of you who loved me enough to teach me how to love Jesus and for showing me the way to Heaven. Everything you taught me, everything I learned from God’s Word and how you taught me and showed me how me to make Heaven is true. IT’S ALL TRUE!!! Please keep believing!! Please keep persevering!! Please keep telling all our family and loved ones to stay the course so we will all be together again soon.”

So because of that, the only thing separating you from Cloe is just a bit of time. It’s okay to grieve, but because of your faith in God you; “….do not grieve as those who have no hope.” (1 The 4:13b). We commit to prop you up in prayer in the days ahead knowing that, “…weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Ps 30:5b).

Butch and Vonda Niemann

Condolence from Rob Hahn & Randi Erlandson on September 26th, 2016 5:54 pm

From all of us at the Prior Lake High School Choir Program, our deepest sympathies. While Cloe was only a part of the choir program for a semester, she made an impact on all of us. Her smile, positive energy, and willingness to jump right in and contribute made her immediately one of us.

Today, in each rehearsal, we talked about the sense of family and unity that we share when we make music together. Cloe was a part of our choir family. We listened to Serenity by Ola Gjello, and remembered the musicianship and beauty she brought to that piece as she accompanied Concert Choir on her cello.

At the request of her classmates, we will dedicate our performance of “A Flower Remembered” by John Rutter to Cloe at our fall concert.

Condolence from Carrie Thompson on September 26th, 2016 11:39 pm

Her cello performance with the Prior Lake Choir was beautiful. Touching. My daughter was in that choir.

Condolence from Dean and Sandy Brown on September 27th, 2016 1:42 pm

For the few times we have been around Cloe you could see the light in her mother’s eyes and gleam in Stevie’s face when she was around. We can tell what proud parents you are and the enormous upbeat in your lives when she finally moved to her real home in Minnesota. So glad we saw her again this summer and her infectious laugh and that beaming smile just like her mothers. Dean saw the picture on Facebook and said “boy, she is the spitting image of her mom.” Our hearts break having only one daughter of our own and the tremendous loss a parent should never have to go through.
It might seem impossible for the extreme sadness and grief at the loss of a child to ever diminish or decrease; however, the Lord is our hope and our salvation, and he can turn our mourning into comfort. And his word is powerful enough to bring healing and solace even during our darkest hours.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” May God Bless you with all the memories you share and know all those around you are there to comfort you and celebrate her life.

Condolence from Michele Kamenar on September 27th, 2016 2:33 pm

My deepest condolences to you and your family at this tremendously sad time. While I did not know Cloe personally, I knew of her through stories about her from her Cousin, Angela. She was taken far too soon at 18 years on this earth, and sadly was unable to realize all of the joy that was so richly due to her. I know she was loved by so many.

Condolence from Bill Gabler on September 27th, 2016 5:10 pm

So sorry for your loss.

Condolence from Wes and Laura Rodewald on September 27th, 2016 5:30 pm

May our Father fill your family with wonderful memories and surround you with comfort and peace.

Condolence from Lisa Kite (Abingdon, Va) on September 27th, 2016 5:32 pm

I am Cloe’s second cousin on her father, Ben’s side. Although I didn’t see Cloe nearly as much as I would have liked, her sweet, loving personality always stood out. She grew up to be a beautiful, intelligent young lady whose life was cut far too short.

Cloe was especially loved by her precious great-grandmother “Punkie”, Betty Montgomery, who sadly passed away yesterday. One of the last things she asked of me was to let Cloe know she loved her with all of her heart.

I’m sure they are celebrating together in heaven right now and Punkie has told her how much she loves her a million times. I saw so much of Punkie’s kind, loving personality in Cloe. Cloe was very loved by all her family and has left a void that will never be filled.

I am so sorry for your loss, as well as the Crabtree’s loss and pray that God will carry everyone who knew and loved Cloe through this difficult time.

Condolence from Jessica Shupe on September 27th, 2016 5:34 pm

While living in Kingsport, Cloe was my absolute best friend for many years…from the 3rd grade all the way through middle school. Cloe was an incredibly special girl and I will always love her. Even though our paths split, I know deep down that we could have easily picked up our friendship where we left it. I know that she is in heaven rejoicing with the angel. She will be greatly missed, and I offer my sincere condolences to her family and loved ones.

Condolence from Olivia Huff on September 27th, 2016 6:49 pm

Condolence from Reagan Rogers on September 27th, 2016 7:20 pm

Cloe and my daughter were “Baptism twins”, as they liked to refer to themselves. They were baptized together in Tennessee. I am sure her father and grandparents here in Tennesee are absolutely heartbroken. Prayers for all the family and friends that loved Cloe.

Condolence from Judy Neuman on September 27th, 2016 9:59 pm

I know how you’re feeling right now, I lost a son. It’s been four years and I think of him every day and wished he would walk through the front door. he wanted to be with Jesus Christ and so he is in heaven with his grandparents. The thought of Chloe Will never go away she will be in your heart forever. You asked the question why God ? Why her? She was so young and full of life that it’s confusing on why God took her at such a young age . there is no time limit on your grieving so don’t let anybody say it’ll just take a month or two months it’ll take years and maybe never. she is your child and you will see her again one day when you go to heaven. Until then it’s going to be really hard on your heart. my prayers are with you and it’s gonna be a long road ahead for you in the grieving process . Love to all of your family, Cousin Judy from the Ritchie’s side.

Condolence from Brianna Emerson on September 27th, 2016 10:46 pm

I work with Janice. I have to say there’s not a day that went by working with Janice that she didn’t have a sweet story or a beautiful word to say about Cloe. Cloe’s life was shorter than anyone would have wanted, but she has, is and will continue to touch a piece of everyone that knew her in a lifetime. I will forever remember the sweetness your mother always shared with me about you, I enjoyed every conversation and i look forward to hearing even more sweet memories your mom can share with me anytime.
I promise on a bad day at work, because we all have them, as a Registered Nurse, I will think of Cloe’s goal of becoming one and I will be sure to place a smile on my face and have laughter from my mouth, and be compassionate like she was and continue to provide care.
Your family loves you so much!
XxOoXoxoxo
Love, Brianna

Condolence from Rita London on September 28th, 2016 10:45 am

I am crying with you for such a tremendous loss. Cloe always bounced into the room, smiling and greeting everyone in her path. Ben, you worked hard to help her grow from a child into an amazing young woman while she was here in Tennessee. She touched a lot of lives – her sweet memory will continue. The last time I saw her at church she invited us to her concert. She was so very excited. May God comfort you and Cloe’s extended family at this difficult time. HE alone can fill the void.

Condolence from Nancy Leonard on September 28th, 2016 11:10 am

Cloe was a lovely, sweet girl and will be so missed. She was a part of our Children’s Group here at LifeBridge Christian Church and later became actively involved with our Youth. No matter how busy Cloe was, she always took time to say Hello and talk when I would see her. She loved her music and was very proud of what she had accomplished. My heart is very sad for your loss. May God bless you all.

I just want to say she made an impact on all of us in the Choir Program our Senior year. She walked in to class first day ready to work with a positive attitude and good vibes. Your Skills with the cello made our performance to Serenity amazing. I wish I could be there for your service but am all the way In Colorado. My heart breaks but we will always be a choir family❤️

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who knew and loved Cloe. I met Cloe through her Dad, Ben. I watched her grow up from year-to-year when I visited Henry Derrick, Ben’s neighbor, in Kingsport. Cloe’s personality and talent held much promise for the future. I am grateful for having met her and glimpsed that promise. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with all family and friends. May you find comfort in the knowledge that others care.

Condolence from Thien ho on September 28th, 2016 3:43 pm

Cloe bought an aspect into our choir that we did not have and that was her ability to play the cello so beautifully. She came into our choir family with such dedication and impacted all of us for the better. A smile and a greeting from her in class was a great way to start our mornings. We are all sending our prayers.

Condolence from Rose Derrick on September 28th, 2016 4:54 pm

Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. Cloe was a beautiful young lady. I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Condolence from John Beck on September 28th, 2016 7:54 pm

We are devastated to hear about Cloe. I knew Cloe through her neighbor, Henry Derrick, and her father, Ben.

Every time we met Cloe she was very kind, had a sweet heart and was always respectful. Cloe was full of life, very intelligent and passionate for life. She had a loving father, Ben, who sacrificed a lot to bring her up into the great woman she became.

I am very sorry to hear about this great loss and offer my deepest condolences to Cloe’s family.
