On July 12, 1922 in Helena Township, Cleo was born to parents Henry and Ann (Hartman) Deutsch. She was the ninth of their ten children.
Along with her siblings, Cleo attended country school at St. Benedict Catholic School. During this time, classes were still taught in German—the language Cleo and her family spoke at home as well. Cleo loved her family deeply. At the young age of 14, hardship struck with the death of Cleo’s mother. While difficult, it reinforced Cleo’s appreciation of family. She was especially close with her sisters. In her youth, Cleo and her sister performed alongside Slim Jim & The Vagabond Kid on WDGY radio
Later in life, Cleo was blessed with a family of her own. She was a dedicated mother, grandma, and great-grandma. She shared her passion for music with her sons, encouraging them to sing and learn musical instruments. An energetic and fun woman, Cleo loved playing cards with her grandchildren as well as taking them fishing…all while wearing her signature high heels!
A longtime member of the Prior Lake VFW Auxiliary, Cleo always supported community events. She instructed square dancing lessons, worked at St. Michael Catholic School in Prior Lake, and in later years was proud to be crowned the 2012 Prior Lake Senior Royalty. Cleo also enjoyed traveling the world visiting places such as India, Africa, South American, Europe, and everywhere in between.
A woman of deep faith, Cleo is loved and missed by sons, Denny (Jenna) Kubes, Roger Kubes; grandchildren, Nicole Schaefer, Jessica (Travis) Larson, Melanie (Tim) Lundell, Brian Kubes; great grandchildren, Jaxson Schaefer, Alice Larson, Rowan Lundell, Oscar Lundell, Wally Lundell, Autumn Lundell, and Baby Larson Great-Granddaughter expected July 2022; other loving relatives and friends.
Cleo is reunited in Heaven with her infant daughters, Judy and Mary; parents; many brothers and sisters.

Cleo and I had many enjoyable conversations when we both worked at Saint Michael School. She was so warm and friendly! She must have had hundreds of pins! She wore a different one each day and many of them told stories of her world travels. May she rest in peace and may there be Bingo in heaven.
