Chris was a lovely person. He played the Pirate King in my production of The Pirates of Penzance and I always enjoyed the sting of his sense of humor. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Condolence from Louie West on November 16th, 2015 8:09 pm

Chris was solace in my time of difficulty. He reached out to me when others decided to keep their distance. He really made my life better whilst others turned a blind eye.

Condolence from Lynnie Shultz Osman on November 16th, 2015 10:32 pm

I met Chris in Verder Hall at Kent State. He was full of life, wit, laughter, and kindness. He had incredible knowledge about many things, but most touching and heartwarming was his ability to relate to others and make them feel important. We reconnected 30 years later and he continued to hold the same wonderful qualities he had when we first met.
My heart is heavy and there are no words to express how much he will be missed.
Chris was a phenomenol person and it was my privilege to know him. May his family be given strength and peace during this time.

Condolence from susie brockway on November 17th, 2015 6:12 am

Always ready with a joke or a kind word, Chris was truly one special human being. I didn’t know him very well at Kent State but I am so glad I got to know him these past few years. I wish we could have had more. He will be sorely missed and I hope he knows how much he was loved! My condolences to his family, Monette and everyone else he held dear.

Condolence from Ron Brunk-Parker on November 17th, 2015 7:39 am

I am saddened by Chris’ passing. I knew him only as a friend of friends but he was always laughing and joking when I saw him with them. My thoughts are with his family and close friends.

Condolence from Michelle Basham on November 17th, 2015 5:53 pm

My heart breaks for Chris and the family he left behind. He fought a mighty battle with courage, wit and tenacity. Cancer may have beaten his body but it most definitely did not beat his spirit.

Condolence from Gary Bolt on November 17th, 2015 7:40 pm

What a sad loss of a brilliant man. A real, brilliant man.

Condolence from Sheila Scott on November 18th, 2015 3:02 pm

Chris and I met sometime in the early 1990s. We weren’t sure if we met online at Top City Computer Bulletin Board, or in the Northside community where we were both active in community issues, our respective neighborhood associations, and politics. In fact, Chris was my treasurer when I ran for city council.

Our friendship continued to grow, sharing many holidays together, spending time with he and Kevin and the cats over the years.

We took care of each others cats from time to time, and helped each other out in our particular areas of expertise. In fact, just before he became ill this last time, he helped put in a catwalk for my elderly cat so he could get outside (in a safe kennel) and enjoy the sunshine.

He was first to call when a weather disaster would hit the neighborhood, to make sure I was ok, and to offer help with repairs, if needed.

We would drift apart from time to time, but we always considered each other family. I miss him.

I am sending all my love for Chris to his parents and to his niece Ariana, as well as other relatives and friends. Chris graced our world with his wit, sarcasm, intelligence, charm and looks. We are lucky to have had him in our lives, and we all wish he had stayed with us longer.

Condolence from Joseph Hager on November 18th, 2015 6:11 pm

I’m deeply saddened to hear this. My sincerest sympathies to Chris’ family and friends. Chris and I were friends, and like friends sometimes do, we fell out of touch over the last year or so. I feel like the bottom was dropped out not getting to see Chris in the hospital this time, as I’ve done in the past. This happened so fast, and I wish so desperately I could have said goodbye. My heart is broken.

Condolence from Jason Bracht on November 20th, 2015 4:37 pm

Chris and I met a few years back at a time when I needed a friend and someone to talk to. Chris was such a sweet guy to me and he was such a no nonsense kind of guy that it would make me giggle. Sometimes I couldn’t decide if he was just uptight or holding back and you know what, it didn’t matter because I just thought the world of him. Chris was kind and caring and he was good to his friends and family. He was a smart man and although he had cancer, he never let that define him or stop him from doing the things that he loved. I am deeply saddened to learn of his passing and I hope that one day I will get to see him and his wonderful smile and hear his laughter again. My sincerest condolences to his family and other friends.
