Rescheduled visitation for Kay will be on Saturday, March 23, 2019, 10:30-12 (noon) at Oak Terrace Senior Living, 622 Aberdeen Ave, Jordan with the celebration of life service to follow at noon.

On October 8, 1923, Catherine “Kay” Brooke was born to parents Robert & Lolita (Kerr) Brooke. She was their first child and a wonderful big sister to her little brother Robert. Kay loved growing up in West Liberty, Iowa. After graduating from high school, Kay took some college courses.

Along the way, she met a young man named Virgil Fisher. Kay and Virgil fell in love and exchanged wedding vows in Huxley, Iowa on November 16, 1946. Their marriage was blessed with many happy years and three wonderful children, Vicki, JoEllen & Steve.

Due to Virgil’s work, the Fishers lived in Des Moines, Sioux City, Omaha and finally moved to Burnsville in 1975. Kay managed to make every house they lived in feel like a home. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and an excellent homemaker. Kay was creative and artistic and loved to attend craft shows. She enjoyed decorative painting and being a talented seamstress. She made nearly all of her children’s clothing and was constantly refinishing furniture, decorating their house and trying out new recipes. Kay relished being outdoors and enjoying all of natures treasures. In later years, she especially loved to raise and nurture Monarch butterflies in her home. Kay was the ultimate caregiver and was always looking out for others.

When Virgil and Kay moved to Burnsville, they moved into the Birnamwood Town Homes and became active volunteers. She enjoyed teaching line dancing, water aerobics, walking around the complex and socializing with the neighbors. Kay loved crafts, especially weaving baskets, making teddy bears, knitting blankets and hats for the newborns, at the nearby hospital. Most of all, Kay loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed babysitting her grandkids and spoiling them. Kay was an exceptional cook her specialties of Hamballs, “Beans with an Attitude” and Orange Balls.

In retirement, Kay enjoyed traveling with Virgil. They spent a lot of time in Arizona and Florida, where she loved walking the beach and gathering seashells and shark teeth. Over the last few years, Kay lived at Oak Terrace in Jordan, where she received excellent care from the wonderful staff.

Kay led a simple, yet meaningful life. She had a strong faith and good heart. Kay was a kind, compassionate and loving woman. On February 26, 2019, she was welcomed home by her Savior, Jesus Christ. Kay passed away peacefully, holding her daughter Vicki’s hand.

Kay will be forever loved and missed by daughter, Vicki (Kevin) Sieben and their children Shelby Sieben, Cody (Laken) Sieben; daughter, JoEllen (Ben) Bryant; son, Steve Fisher and his children, Katie Fisher, Chelsey Fisher, Amy Fisher; great-granddaughter, Sage Fisher; sister-in-law, Patricia Brooke; niece, Cindy Brooke; nephew, Jim Brooke; other relatives and friends.

There to greet Kay home in heaven is her husband, Virgil; parents and brother, Robert Kerr Brooke.
