Robert “Bob” Erickson, age 60, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Mankato, MN, on June 14, 2018.

A time of gathering honoring Bob’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 20 from 4-7 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant Street SE) in Prior Lake, MN and on Thursday, June 21, one hour prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 11 am, at Holy Trinity United Methodist Church (16150 Arcadia Avenue SE) in Prior Lake, MN. Pastor Robert Braudt will preside, with his children acting as urn bearers. Military honors will be provided by the Prior Lake V.F.W. Post 6208 Honor Guard.

Robert James was born on June 10, 1958 in Duluth, MN, to parents Robert and Faye (Sebring) Erickson. He was the fourth of five children growing up in St. Peter, MN. Bob was a bright young boy who loved playing baseball. After he graduated from St Peter High School in 1976, Bob served his country in the United States Navy for 6 years as an aeronautics radar technician.

Through the years, Bob was blessed with two precious children, Mikhail and Courtney. They were his pride and joy. Together, they enjoyed creating paper airplanes, playing cards or chess, and tossing a baseball in the back yard. Bob loved to watch movies with Mikhail and Courtney, especially during the holidays.

Recently, Bob became a grandfather to two beautiful granddaughters, whom he loved with all his heart. Family was the most important part of Bob’s life, and he treasured every moment. He also enjoyed working hard to help others, whether it be family or his community. He was proud to serve at the local Mankato food shelf, no matter his own circumstances.

Bob was a fiercely loyal and loving man to all who knew him. He always had a smile on his face, a joke to make you cringe, and an infectious laugh that no one could resist.

The legacy of Bob will continue in the hearts of those he loved most: son, Mikhail (Brittany) Erickson; daughter, Courtney Wickham; granddaughters, Delilah and Adalyn; siblings, Jane Swanson, Mike (Annette) Erickson, Sue (Bruce) Frey, Karen (Eric Rangen) Erickson, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Faye Erickson and Mikhail’s mother, Colleen Lindell.

So sorry to hear the sad news. I knew Bob in school, but also the bowling ale. We bowled on the same team as young kids on Saturday morning in the late 1960’s. We always had a lot of fun. I loved to watch him throw the ball. He was a good bowler.

Such a loss. I am so sorry to the family. Bob was such a fun guy. Enjoyed having a couple of cocktails with him regularly until I met Bill. Will miss him at his post for the concerts. Here’s to a helluva guy.

Condolence from Pat Sullivan on June 20th, 2018 11:06 am

My deepest sympathies. I worked with Bob at the Holiday House back in the day. He and I joined the Navy together and went through boot camp. We had a lot of fun back then. I’m sure that his memory will live on through the many memories of good times that you shared with him. Sully
