Bev Juergens

Beverly M. Juergens, of Jordan, passed away during the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM with a visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan. Father Timothy Yanta will preside, and Bev’s daughter and granddaughters will act as her urn bearers. Bev will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Blue Earth at 3:30 PM. Memorials are preferred and can be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Bev’s honor.

On April 28, 1929 Arthur and Evelyn Ingmire celebrated the birth of their daughter, Beverly Monica Ingmire. Bev was the eldest of three children and grew up in Blue Earth with her sister, Vivian and brother, William. When Bev was about 5 years old, her father was killed in a terrible trucking accident. Only three years later, her brother William passed away too. Through these events, Bev developed a strength that served her well through her life. Bev’s mother soon married Leo Everett and moved her family to his farm in Elmore.

After graduating from Elmore High school, Bev was briefly married and blessed with a wonderful daughter, Paulette. Bev had the ongoing support of her family to help raise Paulette. Throughout the years, Bev had a number of jobs. She typically worked in office settings doing secretarial work. The best job she ever had was at a Chrysler dealership in St. Paul. This is where she met a customer who turned out to be Ray, her husband of 40 years.

Bev and Ray hit it off immediately and they were soon married on April 25, 1969 in Mason City, Iowa. They settled in Jordan and loved their home on the Mill Pond. Bev transitioned into a homemaker and loved taking care of Ray. Bev also volunteered at St. John’s Catholic Church and would chaperone senior trips to Mystic Lake.

Together, Bev and Ray took many fun trips. They visited California, Alaska and enjoyed time at a family member’s cabin in northern Wisconsin. Bev especially liked taking trips to New York and Colorado to visit her granddaughters, Beth and Jennifer. She was very close with her granddaughters and loved them both dearly.

In her spare time, Bev enjoyed reading, and she never missed an episode of As the World Turns. Bev was always interested in other people, especially in what they were doing. She kept close tabs on the neighborhood and always had the latest news. Bev was known for her bold opinions and never held back the truth. She was a sassy lady with a wonderful sense of humor. Simply put, there was only one Bev.

Four years ago, Bev left her home on the Mill Pond and moved to Oak Terrace. She received excellent care and had a great rapport with the staff and other residents. After a battle with cancer, Bev passed away peacefully at St. Francis Hospital in Shakopee. She will be remembered always by those she loved.

Bev is survived by her daughter, Paulette Drake; granddaughters, Beth (Mark) Ryzyk and Jennifer Drake; great-grandchildren, Amanda and Joshua Ryzyk; sister, Vivian (Darrel) Adamson; other loving neighbors and friends. Bev was greeted in Heaven by her husband, Ray Juergens; parents Arthur Ingmire, Evelyn & Leo Everett; brother, William Ingmire.

Bev was such a neat lady and will be missed here in Jordan. She was very fun to visit with and always took an interest in my family. We enjoyed getting to know her over the years in the old neighborhood on Ridge St. & Juergens Lane as well as up at Oak Terrace. We connected often over the phone or during a visit – and she was always happy to interact and share time and conversation. She will be missed to be sure. May you rest in the peace of Christ dear Bev…now and always.

Good memories with Bev. Our (Paulette & myself) trips with Bev to St. Paul’s Cathedrral, tours of St Paul with Bev’s friend and taxi driver. My favorite was trip to local cafe for fried oysters! Very enjoyable stays with Bev & her landlady Loretta in her colonial style home. Our many Jordan visits with Ray & Bev. Especially enjoyed fried fish by Bev from local pond. Good memories will last forever! Loving regards! Bobby Drake

Condolence from Tara Turner on September 22nd, 2016 6:26 pm

Paulette and family,
In my time at Oak Terrace, Bev was one of the residents I really connected with. She called me almost every day just to see what the news of the building was and to see how my 2 girls were doing. Her laugh and sassy comments will be what I miss the most. I already miss her dearly and I offer my deepest sympathies in your families loss.

Condolence from Jess on September 25th, 2016 4:35 pm

Bev was an amazing woman. I worked at oak terrace for about a year and everytime she would see me she would come up to me give me a hug and ask me how i was doing and we would chat about random things. She knew how to brighten a persons day. She will be greatly missed by everyone. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
