Becky Lynn (Siekmann) Durham passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2015 at the age of 35. A private family service will be held at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation in Prior Lake on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 4:00 pm with an hour prior visitaiton. Reverend John P. Vaughn will preside.
It was a beautiful spring day on May 1, 1979 when Jim and Barb (Thieling) Siekmann celebrated the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Becky Lynn. She was an active child and loved growing up in Prior Lake with her sister Carrie. Together they spent lots of time watching movies, playing video games and playing tennis. It was as a child that Becky got her first pet bunny. This started a lifelong love for rabbits that Becky shared with everyone who came into her life.
Becky graduated from Prior Lake High School 1997. After high school Becky began working for her father at his home construction business. She started out managing construction sites, but when the weather grew cold she took a job inside. Becky was the office manager for 11 years. She eventually went back to school and earned her Associate’s Degree from South Central Technical College in Faribault.
While she was in school she began chatting online with a young man named, Brian Durham. Their first date was at T.G.I. Fridays. Brian was surprised by how tall Becky was when they first met, but he didn’t let that discourage him. They spent the entire night swapping stories, sharing dreams and getting to know each other better. They hit it off immediately and the rest was history. Brian and Becky were married July 8, 2011.
Brian and Becky were always together. They loved to go for long car rides, because this gave them the perfect opportunity to be together and talk. They also took frequent trips to Ely which was Becky’s favorite destination.
Becky even passed on her love of bunnies to Brian. They’d attend local “Hoppy Hours” and had many pet rabbits. They once drove more than two hours in a snowstorm to rescue a rabbit that became part of their family. Becky was involved in Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society for a number of years, and her passion for animals led her to open the adoption program at three local Petco stores. Becky’s love for bunnies even transferred over to some of her other hobbies. Becky loved to craft, and she’d make little bunny figurines out of any material she could get her hands on.
When Becky had some time to herself she’d craft, go shopping at Good Will or attend an auto show. But the most important thing to her was spending time with her family. Becky was the best “Auntie” to Tessa and Trevor. They loved playing hide-n-seek with her. She’d often times go over to their house for lunch and end up staying all afternoon, evening and even putting the kids to bed. Becky was always buying gifts for them and sending special letters to her little loves.
Becky was a kind and sincere woman. She was generous, compassionate and always had a hug for anyone in need. Becky was a loyal wife, wonderful daughter, caring sister and loving aunt. She will be deeply missed and remembered always by her husband, Brian Durham; parents, Barb Siekmann and Jim Siekmann; sister, Carrie (Trent) Voth; niece, Tessa Voth; nephew, Trevor Voth; many other loving relatives and friends. Becky’s grandparents preceded her in death, and they are there to greet her in Heaven.
The Durham family is served with honor, care and compassion by Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation.

Long time friend and traveling companions, we enjoyed adventures to Ely where we fished, played and laughed for days. I’ll miss her tremendously. To her family I pray you find peace, my deepest condolences.

I had only known Becky for two years, but in that time we became immediate friends due to our mutual love of rabbits and then recognised a true soulmate in each other . I am going to miss her every day. Love and thoughts to Brian and Becky’s family.

To Becky’s family,
My sympathies for you immense loss. Becky was a great friend to me and my daughter on my second go around through college, lots of folks think they have the friends they have, that they are full. Not Becky, she always had her heart open for one more. She will be missed. Lyn and Avery Rein

Jimmy, Just wanted to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. (This is Barb, Doug and Lil Schroeder’s daughter from Mankato) Kevin called and told me the news. They say the hardest thing to lose is a child, and I know your heart is broken. When you feel you can endure, listen to this song. I play it often and it gives me great comfort in dealing with Lori dying. The name of the song is Dancing In The Sky, by Dani and Lizzy. A beautiful song that makes Lori’s passing a bit easier to endure, and I hope one day it will give you the same comfort. My love to you and your family. Barb

Becky was a force of love and caring, acceptance, sincerity, nonstop dedication to the MCRS, and humbleness. She had a deep concern for all who were involved with the business of bunnies! I can’t believe she will not be at any more of our adoption events. She could organize an event and people would flock to her willing to help her in any way, that is the kind of person she was…everyone wanted to be around her and she was always ready with open arms and a hug. There are two kinds of people in the world…One kind walks into a room and says, “here I am”…the other kind says, “There you are”! That was Becky! I. Will. Miss. Her. My sympathies to her family and friends.

Becky was an amazingly compassionate member of the local rabbit community. She was so happy to see you at adoption evens and Hoppy Hours. Becky was wonderful to work with and I am so sad the bunnies have lost an advocate. My condolences to her family.

I first met Becky through Hoppy Hours with her little bunny Poe. She devoted time and love to the bunnies and her friends through adoption events, helping so many bunnies find their forever homes. She always lit up the room when she arrived. She will be greatly missed by so many. I’m sure she is surrounded by so many of our bunnies that have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and I know her little Poe was waiting for her. Much love to you all.
Judy Carter
My sincere condolences to the whole family. Becky had such infectious energy and love to everything she did with the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society. She was always there for anyone who needed her. God Bless her. Judy Carter

I would like to offer my deepest sympathy for the loss of your loved one. Although this is a difficult time, you can be assured that God cares for your family and can be a source of comfort (2 Corinthians 1: 3, 4). He also promises a time soon when death will be brought to nothing (1 Corinthians 15: 26, Isaiah 25:8). We can look forward to such a joyous time. For additional information, please visit jw.org.

My heart is so sad tonight. I learned at our 20th class reunion about the passing of Becky. Though our paths parted way shortly after high school. I loved her fiercely for many years in our youth and I’m deeply sad for her family. Becky… I loved you
