Ann Miller, of Prior Lake, passed away on July 29, 2018 at the age of 67. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation (4565 Pleasant St. SE) in Prior Lake. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation one-hour prior at St. Michael Catholic Church in Prior Lake. Father Tom Walker will preside, and Ann will be laid to rest at St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.

On January 3, 1951, Ann Patricia Huber was born to parents, George and Mary (Williams) Huber. She was one of five girls and loved growing up with her sisters, Judy, Sue, Mary and Kathy. As a girl, Ann attended Resurrection Grade School. She later graduated from Regina High School and began her studies at the University of Minnesota.

She studied microbiology and earned her bachelor’s degree from the U of M. It was at the university that she also reconnected with an old friend, Dick Miller. Ann and Dick’s love grew quickly, and they exchanged wedding vows on December 27, 1971. They settled in Richfield, then moved to Lakeville, and eventually ended up in Prior Lake. Their marriage was blessed with three wonderful sons, Greg, Steve and Mike.

Ann loved being a mom. Her boys were the apple of her eye, and she always took such great care of them. When her boys were a little older, she was able to work outside the home at the family business. She worked in insurance for many years, but always made sure to follow her work routine of coffee first, then talking to coworkers and finally work.

When Ann wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Park Rapids. She also liked fishing, golfing and playing tennis. Ann was an avid traveler, and she took many memorable trips with her family.

Although Ann had many interests, family and faith were the most important things in her life. Ann loved her family so much, and she showed them how to love deeply, give generously and serve God faithfully. Ann was especially proud to pass on the importance of missionary work to her boys. Ann and her family made over 20 trips to St. Michael’s sister parish in Peru over the last 15 years. They worked closely with the community and made many dear friends. Ann truly had a servant’s heart and was so passionate about the important work she was doing through her mission trips.

In 2014 Ann was diagnosed with frontal temporal lobe dementia. Eventually Ann required round the clock care and moved into the Memory Care Unit at Ecumen Assisted Living in Apple Valley. On July 29, 2018, Ann went home to Heaven. She will be remembered always for her kind and loving heart.

Ann is survived by her husband of 46 years, Dick Miller; children, Greg (Julie) Miller, Steve (Veronica) Miller, Mike (Lupita) Miller; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Gavin, Luke, Adrianna; mother, Mary Patricia Huber; siblings, Judy (Paul) Erhardt, Sue (Dick) Weiland, Mary (Al) Weiland, Kathy (Leon) Weiland; other loving relatives and friends. Ann is preceded by her father, George Huber.

Condolences for the family of “Ann Miller”

Condolence from Jim Phillips on July 31st, 2018 3:27 pm

Mrs. Miller (yes, I will always call you that), you were one of a kind. Your kind heart and kindred spirit are what everyone will remember you for. Always a smile on her face and a kind word to say. I will always cherish going to your home to be with the boys. Playing cards around the table. What was so fun was that you and Mr. Miller got involved in the interests of your boys and you too played the card game Magic. Many parents at that age would have just shaken their heads and let the kids play, but not you. You were young at heart and enjoyed being around your family, no matter what they were doing. Thank you for being a part of my life that still means the world to me. God bless your kind soul. Heaven has truly received a beautiful angel today.

I had the privilege of teaching at St. MichaelSchool for 27 years. During that time we developed a special connection with our sister parish in Peru. Ann spoke to our fourth graders about collecting shoes for our brothers and sisters in Chimbote. Her power point and sincere message touched our hearts.Ann, may you enjoy the peace of heaven.

I will remember Ann for her great smile and contagious laughter. She was a kind and compassionate friend that was thoughtful, kind and generous. I admired all the missionary work she did to help others. My heart aches for the wonderful family that always stood by her. May she be happy and comforted with God now.

Dick, on behalf of the Davis family, I wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the Miller family for the loss your family has just experience. Miller Family,
I feel truly blessed that I was able to work for your family. I love all of you and I loved my job. Ann was always hardworking, kind, generous and super smart. I will never forget Ann or the impact she had on my life. Ann always put family, faith and service first. Work was important too but she had her priorities straight. She lived life well and was thankful for all of her blessings. She loved her family so much! Time together was #1. Talking, dinner, traveling, golfing, cards – whatever it was if you were together she was thrilled. I was always impressed with that! I love the special bond that your family has. I hope you can reflect on all of your blessings and time together. I hope this can bring you some comfort.
It is so hard because she was simply amazing! Sending all of you hugs and love!

Just heard about Ann’s passing and want to send our condolences out to Dick and their family. We’ve know you since the 80’s, but lost track of you two the past ten years or so. It was always so uplifting to come into you business each year, renew our insurance policies, and catch up on family news. So sorry to hear about Ann’s diagnosis and struggles. You and your family will certainly be in our prayers.

Condolence from Bruce R. on August 7th, 2018 7:25 am

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends. May you find some comfort in the promise found in Revelation 21: 3-4 and 1Thessalonians 4:14. Knowing that there is an opportunity to be reunited with loved ones.
