Aimee Swiatkiewicz, age 47, of Prior Lake, MN, left her family’s side, after a short illness with cancer, on Saturday, June 13, 2020, at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park, MN.

A time of gathering honoring Aimee will be held on Thursday, June 18, from 1-3 pm, with closing words at 2:50 pm, at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 833 South Marschall Road, Shakopee, MN. Visitors are required to wear masks and follow social distancing guidelines. Memorials are preferred and will be distributed in Aimee’s memory, by the family.

On October 27, 1972, in Eau Claire, WI, Aimee Jean was born to Dale and Nancy (Olson) Block. The older sister of Jake, they spent the first many years living in different communities of Wisconsin, before the Block family settled their roots in Rochester, MN. Aimee had a determined and competitive nature, and this blossomed even more, when she was playing sports with her male cousins and friends. Aimee loved all sports, especially gymnastics. She attended Rochester Marshall High School, with graduating in 1991.

Aimee attended Minnesota State University, Mankato for two years, before transferring to St. Cloud State University. Her focus was on International Business. Aimee was fortunate to have had an internship in Germany, to further her knowledge. Working for various companies at first, she has spent the last 21 years dedicating her expertise at Best Buy Corporate Offices. Aimee began her career negotiating product sales with venders. The last many years, she has been the Director of Geek Squad Services. Aimee excelled in her position and her eyes were continually focused on the task at hand. Aimee loved being around her colleagues and the perks of the job.

Unbeknown to Aimee, her life was going to be enriched on January 27, 2000 at Bullwinkle’s Bar. A handsome young baseball player named Christopher Swiatkiewicz watched from the upper deck of the bar, as she played darts below. After a heated conversation, the rest of their story became history. Aimee and Chris dated for 7 years to the date and they exchanged wedding vows, in Puerto Vallarta, in 2006. In 2009, Aimee and Chris welcomed a baby girl into their arms. Sammy became her emphasis. Since birth, Aimee has instilled into her daughter the necessary skills and experience to succeed in life. She and Chris loved exploring the United States and Mexico with Sammy. Their goals to give her life experiences of how others live, the culture and the history of the region. Aimee encouraged Sammy to discover different interests and experience life right in front of her, no matter the age.

As a couple and as a family, they have created countless memories of being together. Aimee had a deep passion of the water, which led the Swiatkiewicz’s to enjoy the beaches in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, over the last decade. They also enjoyed many years exploring the St. Croix and Mississippi River in their cabin cruiser. In recent years, Aimee. Chris and Sammy focused their time enjoying lake life on Prior Lake.

Family remained most important in Aimee’s life. When time allowed, she loved to read James Patterson book, Readers Digest and the latest gossip magazine. As Christmas neared, Aimee had her sights set on the Black Friday shopping excursion with family and friends. She too adored the companionship from her dogs too.

Aimee had a tough exterior. She worked hard and was disciplined at her job and as an athlete. But once you broke that shell, she was loving, supportive and always had your best interest in mind.

The legacy of Aimee now will resonate through the ones she loved the most, her husband Chris; daughter, Sammy; parents, Dale and Nancy Block; brother, Jake (Corrie) Block; nephews, Dom Block, Xander Block; mother-in-law, Mary (Dan) Bedsted; brother, Jeff (Amy) Swiatkiewicz; other relatives and friends.

Chris, Sammy- I worked with your mom when we were both merchants on the Geek Squad team and I have many memories of her. Aimee was an intense, hard-working person, and she never did anything half-way. We had our babies the same year, and it was through those conversations we got to know each other, and I grew to understand just how big her heart was.

Aimee was taken from you way too soon- but I hope it’s some kind of consolation that she lives on in the memories of so many people.
