Aileen (Ayd) Muer

A sweet, funny and non-judgmental lady, Aileen (Ayd) Muer passed away peacefully at Emerald Crest in Shakopee on August 26, 2015.

Aileen’s life will be honored with a time of gathering on Saturday, September 12 from 9:30-10:45am at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 833 S. Marschall Road, Shakopee. MN. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 535 Lewis Street S., Shakopee, MN. Interment to follow at Shakopee Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee, MN. Urn Bearers will be Micah Muer, Allison Muer, James Muer, Mariah Muer.

It was on March 21, 1927, in St. Paul, MN that Leonard and Soloma (Vetsch) Ayd held in their arms their precious daughter, Aileen. The oldest of seven siblings, they moved from St. Paul to Shakopee, when Aileen was a young child. Shakopee became her life-long home.

After graduating from Shakopee high school, she ventured off to St. Scholastica College in Duluth. After a couple years of college, tragedy struck her family as her mother died suddenly and she was summoned back home to help tend to her younger siblings.

In 1951, she married her nearly life-long neighbor, John Muer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shakopee. From that union, they were blessed with five boys, John, Michael, William, Matthew and Thomas.

Out of college, Aileen excelled as an interior decorator for Savoy’s in Minneapolis. She also was a talented painter and seamstress. After raising the boys, she loved selling her Avon, mainly for the socializing aspect. She also was a collector of Avon collectibles. Aileen was also a supporter of the Shakopee arts. She took to her vegetable and flower gardens and had a love for cooking, figure skating and sun tanning.

When the boys were young, the family enjoyed camping trips to North and South Dakota and all parts of Minnesota. In later years, her and John enjoyed traveling and saw just about every state in the Union.

Aileen’s life and legacy will be forever remember by her children, John “Tony” (Carol) Muer, Mike (Lora) Muer, William Muer, Matt (Lisa) Muer; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; siblings, Joan Ohnsorg, Carmen (Frank) Dirks, Beverly Anderson, Bob (Diane) Ayd; sisters in law, Jeri Ayd, Gertrude Sunder; brother in law, Nick Waritz.

There to greet her in heaven is her husband, John Muer; son,Thomas Muer; parents, Leonard and Soloma (Vetsch) Ayd; siblings, Marcy Waritz, Don Ayd.

Im so sorry for your loss to the family. Aileen was a very kind loving lady. She always knew how to make you feel special and cared about. She was a wonderful grandmother and i remember sitting with her at the dining room table when i was pregnant with Bramdon. Re-teqching me how to fold cloth diapers and she was wonderful at remembering birthdays. She loved her gardening and her flowers. She is truly missed.
