WEB Lowell Webster

Lowell R. Webster, of Prior Lake, passed away peacefully during the early morning hours of April 26, 2017 at the age of 81. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 12:00 Noon with a time of gathering from 10:00 – 12:00 Noon at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation in Prior Lake. Pastor Mary Dodgson will preside, and Lowell’s children will act as urn bearers.

On August 21, 1935, Clayton and Olive (Allen) Webster celebrated the birth of their son, Lowell Ross Webster. Lowell was the youngest of two, and he loved growing up with his older brother, Bruce. As a boy, Lowell enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brother and raising homing pigeons with his father. During high school, Lowell was a strong athlete; he was on the wrestling, track and football teams. Lowell graduated from Washburn High School in 1953.

Following high school, Lowell attended the University of Minnesota for a few years before transferring to Gustavus Adolphus College where he graduated with a business degree. Just a few months after graduating, Lowell married the love of his life, Joanne Olson. As children, Lowell and Joanne had lived just a couple blocks from each other in Sioux Falls. Both of their families moved to the Minneapolis area around the same time, but they didn’t meet each other until Washburn. They were high school sweethearts, and their love grew deeply every day. Lowell and Joanne exchanged wedding vows at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis on November 22, 1958.

Lowell and Joanne settled in Bloomington to raise their family. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Paul, Joel and Leslie. Lowell was a true family-man, and he worked very hard to provide a good life for his wife and kids. Lowell was a business broker for Calhoun Realty. He sold commercial real estate to many businesses over the years with his focus being in the newspaper and publication businesses. Lowell was a very hard worker and enjoyed keeping busy.

Once their family was grown, Lowell and Joanne moved to Prior Lake. Lowell loved being on the lake, and spent as much time as he could boating and fishing. He also enjoyed being on the water at their cabin in northern Minnesota. The cabin was truly Lowell’s happy place.

Lowell was an avid golfer, and especially enjoyed being on the links with his dear friend, Jack Schaeffer. They even competed together in a golf league in New Prague. Lowell also enjoyed traveling, and took many memorable trips with his family. Some of his favorite trips were to Florida, Hawaii and Mexico. Fishing and hunting were lifelong passions of Lowell’s. He always looked forward to the pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota with his family.

Although Lowell had many interests, the most important thing in his life was his family. He was a dedicated husband, loving father and wonderful grandpa. He loved his family deeply and spoiled them every chance he got. Lowell was very generous, and he was always putting others before himself.

Lowell will be deeply missed and remembered always by his loving wife, Joanne Webster; children, Paul (Giovania) Webster, Joel (Linda) Webster, Leslie (Ron DeBaere) Webster; grandchildren, Braham Webster, Gabriel “Gabe” Webster, Luella Webster, Krista Hansen, Jordan Hansen and Shelby Hansen; great-grandson, Oliver Hansen; sister-in-law, Carlo Webster; other loving relatives and friends.

Lowell was welcomed home to Heaven by his granddaughter, Karlie Jo Hansen; parents, Clayton & Olive Webster; brother, Bruce Webster.
