Doris Margaret (Zarth) Wermerskirchen

Doris Wermerskirchen, 95, of Jordan, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007.

Doris was born in Grass Lake Township, Kanabec County, Minnesota on June 30, 1912, the daughter of Hilmer and Marie (Halverson) Strand. She married Walter Zarth Nov. 14, 1932 at Brunswick Lutheran Church in Mora, Minn. Walter died Dec. 1, 1972. Doris and Alfred Wermerskirchen were married July 24, 1973 at St. John the Baptist Church in Jordan. Alfred died Feb. 18, 2001. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her nine siblings.

Doris will be remembered as a very generous and good hearted woman. She was a member of Immanual United Methodist Church in Jordan. She was the oldest member of the Jordan V.F.W. Auxiliary (65 years). Doris was a musician and played the organ, piano and accordion. She was an avid card player and loved to gamble and play bingo. This graduate of Mora High School worked at Mudbaden for 20 years and was also employed at Continental Tool and MVEC.

Loved and forever missed by her sons, Allan (Iyla) Zarth of Shakopee, Stephen Zarth and Kitty Mahal of Roseville; grandson, Kurt Zarth of Shakopee; stepson, Ronald (Eileen) Wermerskirchen of Northfield; stepdaughter, Ann Marie (Tom) Klotz of Prior Lake; stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ellie Strand of Anoka, Verna Mae Strand of Mora; many nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Visitation was Saturday, Sept. 8 from 9-10 a.m. at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Jordan. Funeral services followed at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Judy McEachran presiding. Pallbearers were Harold Strand, Gary Savston, Joan Steel, Jim Maas, Fred Strand, Lonnie Strandland, Diane Gibas, and Gil Strand. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis on Monday Sept. 10 at 10 a.m.
