Pall bearers for Geraldine are Buck Doheny, Jake Hanson, Randy Brown, Mike Tupper, Scott Shinehouse, Johnny Fahey and Shawn O’Neil.
It was a beautiful day on June 7, 1969 when George and Cheyann (Brown) Doheny celebrated the birth of their little girl, Geraldine Lynn. She was the middle of three children and loved growing up with her siblings, Shannon and Buck. The Doheny family lived in Minneapolis where Geraldine attended Visitation Grade School and Washburn High School.
Geraldine was always very talkative and social. This helped her to make many lifelong friends during her school years. She was active in high school sports, and played basketball for the Washburn Millers. After graduating from high school, Geraldine attended a two-year vocational school. She studied marketing and graduated with an Associate’s Degree.
Throughout the years Geraldine had a number of jobs. She was a good, hard working employee as she was always very organized. Her attention to detail and her ability to see and verbalize what needed to be done made her an asset in all the jobs she ventured into. One of her favorite jobs was working as a painter for the Casey Reynolds Painting Company. She was a long time painter for them, and she love the work. Geraldine most recently worked in the Deli at Kowalski’s Grocery Store, and everyone at the store loved her. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who came into the store. Geraldine made many wonderful friends working at Kowalski’s.
True to her Irish heritage, Geraldine had the gift of gab, a great sense of humor, and she was very charismatic. She had the ability to make any event more fun. Geraldine had many friends and loved spending time with them. One of her favorite past times was cheering for her nephew Jake at his football, basketball and baseball games. She was always the loudest fan in the crowd, and Jake loved it.
She was proud to be Irish, and she even took a trip to Ireland with her family. Geraldine was selfless and was always doing things for other people. She was a loving daughter, caring sister and wonderful aunt to Jake, Frank and Spencer. Family was the most important thing to Geraldine, and her nephews were the light of her life.
Geraldine will be deeply missed and remembered always by her parents, George and Cheyann Doheny; sister, Shannon (Mike) Tupper; brother, Buck Doheny; nephews, Jake (mother: Tracy) Hanson, Frank Tupper and Spencer Tupper; uncle, Randy Brown and family; close friend, Scott Shinehouse; many close cousins; other loving relatives and many dear friends. There to greet Geraldine in Heaven is her uncle, Gary Brown, Grandparents, and close friend Christine.

I knew Geri for a short time at TCLI. We would often cross paths coming back at the last second for curfew there. She made me laugh, and I appreciated her straight forward honesty. I know one thing, like me, she was a very proud Catholic! Heaven got a fun one this morning.

To Gerri’s family: I had the honor of being a teacher at Teen Challenge Leadership Institute and had Gerri as a student. I remember she took her studies seriously. We had a couple of very good discussions concerning faith and issues of faith. She helped me formulate in words a couple of ideas that would not come out so offensive to people of different faith communities. On the other hand I was able to help her work through a couple of faith issues that were bothering her. I am so sorry to hear of Gerri’s passing. As a father that has lost a child I understand some of the grief you bear. Please know that we are praying for you. Blessings, Dan & Rita Cole

So sad to think about what your going through . If Geraldine knew we were visiting Belle Plaine she would drive around til she found us just to say hello and give a big hug so we felt welcome.
She kept everyone laughing and smiling on earth , certain she already has the angels doing the same in heaven.

“G”
I will truly miss you, and have some great memories over these last 4 years! You always called me “Davey” and over the past 5 months when we would talk on the phone or text, you would always ask “so Davey how’s your farmer!” and are you a farm wife yet!” there are so many memories you can just go on and on. I know you’re up in heaven with my father and many other family & friends. Praying for your family cause losing you leaves a big space in the lives of many!
Love you G!
Kara & Liam
Although you’re in heaven next to Jesus, a place I strive to be, I selfishly admit, you’ll be missed here with us on earth. It was good to see your smile & here your laugh just a couple weeks ago. A memory stamped on my heart. Liam is heartbroken, G, simply heartbroken. You were so good to us and adored our mama & son relationship. I’m so honored to have worked along side with you, laugh with you, heal with you, gripe with you, but most of all…to have been called your friend.
Until we meet again
May God Hold you
In the palm of His hand…Oh and how He is!!

Gerri,

In 2013 Gerri took a trip to Ireland with her Dad, Brother & Nephew. Jake summarized the trip and I would like to share with you.
Day 1
We arrived in Dublin at about 11 o’clock local time. The cool Irish air quickly hit our lungs and we knew that the 8 hour flight was worth the wait. We rented a car from Dooley rentals and we were on the road. We headed southwest towards Kilkenny with George F. Doheny leading the way. We arrived in Kilkenny an hour later and explored the Kilkenny castle. After, we roamed around Kilkenny and noticed that the streets were very clean and they had many betting parlors through-out the town. We also saw the 4 star Hibernian hotel located in the middle of town.
Day 2
We woke up early the next morning and ate traditional Irish breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast we headed to our second destination, Cashel. We wanted to see the Rock of Cashel castle. The Rock of Cashel castle was probably the biggest and most beautiful castle we visited. It was built in the 11th century and previous kings and queens of Ireland had lived there. After the castle, we headed to the small Irish town of Tipperrary where we stayed for the night.
Day 3
The next day we headed west to see the Cahir castle in Cahir. The castle was built by the Normans in the 12th century and today it is one of the most intact castles in Ireland. It also is one of the few castles in Ireland to have cannonballs still stuck in its walls from when it was being attacked hundreds of years ago. After Cahir, we headed to one of the largest cities in Ireland, Waterford. We explored Waterford and ate dinner at Geoff’s restaurant. As we walked home the cool and clear Irish mist began to fall. It was certainly a great day in Ireland.
Day 4
We left Waterford early the next morning and headed back to Dublin. The shamrock green Irish country side was filled with Cattle and Sheep. It made the two hour drive fell like minutes. We arrived in Dublin and decided we wanted to tour Dublin in a double decker bus. We spent the rest of the day touring around Dublin on the double decker bus. We saw all the attractions Dublin had to offer, like the Dublin castle and the Dublin zoo. We also saw The Guinness headquarters and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. We all had a great time in Ireland’s largest city.
RIP Gerri
You will be greatly missed but never forgotten. No way. Won’t happen.
You were a huge part of my life for over 20 years.
I love you like a sister.
And you were a bad ass chick!

Gerri was a kind soul and the earth is at a loss without her.
I witnessed her uncompromising wit, endearing honesty and ever charming personality during our time at Washburn High School. She was always a delight- be it cheering on the wrestling team, at the fry doors, in class or detention, or at “The Log” and the likes. Our deepest sympathies, prayers and thoughts to her loved ones left behind-
Until we’re all reunited again, bottoms up to you Gerri from South Florida.
Kari Hanson
The Hansons will miss you Gerri and will never forget all the fun times we’ve had over the years at Jake’s games and birthday celebrations. Tracy would always mention you on the phone and tell me stories about times spent with you. I know Jake and Tracy will miss you so much and we will never forget what a wonderful Aunt you were to Jake. Rest in peace Gerri.
Deb (school-girl or Miss Deb)
