Becky Lyn Muellerleile of Savage, formerly of Bloomington, was taken too soon at the young age of 54. Events to celebrate her life will begin with a visitation on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4-7PM at Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation, 4565 Pleasant Street SE, Prior Lake. A funeral will be Friday, November 10, 2017 at 11AM with a visitation 1-hour prior all at Bridgewood Church, 6201 W 135th Street, Savage. Pallbearers will be close family friends: Doug & Gretchen Eischens, Randy & Sue Seedorf, and Terry & Lynn Thene. Pastor David Huizenga will preside.

On July 24, 1963 at Mount Sinai Hospital of Minneapolis, parents Phillip and Hildegard “Wendy” Gustafson celebrated the birth of their daughter, Becky. She was the youngest of five children. She attended Lincoln High School and participated in competitive swimming and softball.

Following her high school graduation in 1981, Becky continued her education at St. Cloud State University where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.

During college, Becky met a dashing young man, Bob Muellerleile, at the Red Carpet in St. Cloud. With persistence he won her over and they fell madly in love. Their personalities always balanced each other. Bob was reserved while Becky was outgoing. They shared many adventures and Bob always supported her passions.

Depending who you ask, Bob and Becky dated either 2 or 4 years before he proposed. The first time could be a scene from a romantic movie. They were at the top of the Twin Towers, overlooking Manhattan Island and the Atlantic Ocean, when Bob asked, “Will you marry me…someday?” That someday came along two years later when Bob was prepared with a ring and officially asked for her hand in marriage. They exchanged wedding vows on March 28, 1987 at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church of Bloomington. This union resulted in the birth of three children: David, Sarah, and Rachel.

As a natural caregiver, Becky started a home daycare when her daughter, Rachel, was born. She fulfilled her passion of enhancing children’s lives for 13 years, before looking for a change of pace. She embarked on a new career path in business, where she held various positions before settling in Accounts Receivable at Wells Fargo.

Family was the most important thing in Becky’s life. She was her children’s biggest supporters, always attending their school activities and being active in the community. She planned many adventures for the family with vacations to Florida, Yellowstone, Glacier, the Black Hills, California, Idaho, and the Boundary Waters. Family time also occurred closer to home at Five Point Lake with the grandparents (Tom & Patricia Muellerleile) where memories were made with fishing, boating, and tubing.

With her siblings, Becky enjoyed traveling, camping, scrapbooking, wine-tasting, and the occasional lunch. One of their most favorite memories with her was the annual cookie baking. A day full of holiday spirit and was filled with cooking dozens of cookies, candies, and sweets.

As her children reached adulthood, Becky loved watching her family grow. From weddings to the birth of her first beautiful grandchild, Kinsley Muellerleile, she radiated with love. Her goal in life was to have as many “grand-babies” as possible.

As a wonderful hostess, Becky relished the holidays. She decorated her home and created a warm and welcoming environment. She especially loved Christmas as it meant filling her home with snowmen, baking desserts, and being around family. She always captured the memories in her carefully crafted scrapbooks.

Becky’s charisma for life and her caring, selfless attitude will be greatly missed by those who love her most, her husband, Bob Muellerleile; son, David (Lisa) Muellerleile and their daughter, Kinsley; daughters, Sarah (Robbie) Lannon and Rachel Muellerleile; siblings, Sue Gustafson, Kay Gustafson, John Gustafson, and Julie Peterson; niece, Erin Peterson; father and mother-in-law, Tom & Patricia Muellerleile; sister-in-law, Pamela Muellerleile; and many other loving relatives and friends.

Becky is greeted in Heaven by her parents, Phillip and Hildegard Gustafson, and brother-in-law, Paul Peterson.
The Muellerleile family is cared for by the staff of Ballard-Sunder Funeral & Cremation and Bridgewood Church.

Rachel being one of my best friends, Becky and Bob took me in and rented the spare room to me when I was 20 years old, saving up for my first apartment. Their kindness is something I will always remember. They treated me as one of their own, from inviting me to dinners to including me in the holiday festivities; decorating, the gingerbread house competition, and baking cookies. Becky’s warm spirit was truly special, and so is her family’s. May they all give each other strength during this incredibly difficult time.

Condolence from Pam Johns Flaten on November 7th, 2017 8:35 pm

So sorry to hear of Becky’s passing. Becky and I played softball together in high school, but did not keep in touch. I also just learned that she is the mother Sarah who my daughter Kim would carpool with to NMU in Marquette. What a small world and now we have lost the opportunity to reconnect. God bless.
