Alison Jeanne (Foster) Trence

Born on October 15, 1960 in Minneapolis, MN, Alison was the daughter of Donald and Jeanne (Twistol) Foster. Growing up in Richfield, with 3 brothers and 1 sister, she had many fond memories of her childhood, especially the family pet duck, Charlie.

Alison attended grade school in Richfield.  While attending high school, Alison was a proud and active member of DECA (a business leadership group). Her group even earned enough money to take a trip to Texas for a convention. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1979. To celebrate her graduation, she and her friend, RaeAnn took a vacation around the Great Lakes, which she has always treasured.

After graduation, Alison worked various jobs, ending up Western National Insurance Company. Alison decided to go back to school, first attending Normandale Community College receiving an Associate Degree.  She then attended and graduated cum laude from St. Cloud State with an elementary education degree.

Alison had a love for softball and played on a mixed league, where she hit many home run balls.  While gathering with some friends, Alison soon met the man of her dreams, Martin Trence.  Their love grew for each other and they were married on August 27, 1988 at Richfield United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, MN.

As her children, Marija and Nathan were being born and raised; Alison became a teacher at Trinity Child Care and then Rocking Horse Ranch both childcare centers. When the children were small, she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for her church, Holy Trinity United Methodist Church. There was never a quiet moment for Alison. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader for her children’s groups. She never missed her children’s activities – like soccer, swimming, baseball and piano lessons and just being around for her family.

In her spare time, she enjoyed creating beautiful landscapes around her home. She was a talented seamstress. She could sew and fix just about anything. Cooking was another gift. When Alison cooked, she cooked for an army. You never went away hungry at her home. Alison love to play tennis and her favorite color was blue.

Alison was 49 years young when she passed away suddenly and most unexpectedly on June 8, 2010. A bubbly, active, caring and supportive wife and mother, who was very skilled and very knowledgeable.
