Ada Elzea

Ada Marie Elzea, age 92, of Galesville, died on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in the Marinuka Manor in Galesville.

 

Ada was born on October 28, 1917 in Mound City, KS to Ted and Elsie Paddock.  She married Bayard O. Elzea on September 15, 1941 in Chicago, Il.  Bayard preceded  Ada in death on January 2, 2007.

 

Ada and Bayard lived in the western Minneapolis, MN suburbs until they retired in 1976 and moved to Oklahoma.  Ada had worked in a small fabric store in Wayzata, made custom draperies and assembled electronic equipment.

 

Ada enjoyed archery, camping and square dancing.  Ada and Bay both volunteered to run the Ceramics Club at the the local senior center in Salisaw, OK.  After returning to Shakopee, MN they both volunteered at the local food shelf.  Even after moving to the Eden House in Galesville,WI, Ada volunteered to deliver mail at Marinuka Manor while she was able to.

 

Ada is survived by two sons, Jerry (Kathy) Elzea of Ettrick, WI and Allen (Cheryl) Elzea of Frederic, WI; five grandchildren, Fred (Heather) Elzea, Julie (Tom) Wigren, Lisa Elzea, Jason (Robin) Elzea and Dan Elzea; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Loie King of Mound, MN and a brother, Gorden “Bud” Paddock.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Ada was preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Earl, Harry and Lee Paddock.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home in Shakopee, MN.    Pastor Bryce Fellbaum will officiate.  Burial will be in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.

 

Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2010 from 4-6:30 p.m. in the Jack Funeral Home in Blair, WI where a prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m.  Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Shakopee, MN on Monday.
